The thing about 24 that bothers me most is…
Who is this for?
It’s not because TV was begging for it. ESPN had to be convinced.
It’s not for a boatload of new cash. Losing conf champ games is gonna make this a minimal gain.
It’s not because the 22nd team has any shot at a natty. It doesn’t.
It’s certainly not done with the health, safety, or academic success of the players in mind since they don’t even get a say in this.
It’s entirely to appease the people donating the money that keeps a financially irresponsible business model afloat. It’s discounting success so schools can say “look what your donation bought.”
It’s an industry hellbent on treating investors and bosses as the customer, and customers as an infinite resource that will keep coming back no matter what.

Regular season games with little to no consequence.
Conference champions being decided by record, not a head-to-head matchup.
How does any of this resemble the College Football we grew up on? Greed is going to destroy every fiber of the sport we love until it's unrecognizable.
The 24-team College Football Playoff likely eliminates conference championships, @PeteNakos reports❌

LSU on Friday: We're not going to play pros THIS week, but maybe later
LSU tonight: We might get kicked out of the SEC? We were just kidding

Why did they hire no Greek actors for this adaptation of The Odyssey? Total garbage.

College football has committed itself to transitioning from being a completely unique and fun alternative to the NFL with its own character to being a shitty NFL knock off that dispenses with all that was great about CFB and replaces it with none of what is great about the NFL

Just to follow up on this… Indiana would already be national champs in the old system, and that would be a result indicative of the regular season
They wouldn’t have to rematch a team who they beat on their own field or go play in Miami vs a Miami team who lost to two 8-4 teams
College football once had the best regular season in sports. Any week could eliminate a top contender
Last year, Ohio St lost to a 6-5 archrival and won a title
Now, Miami lost to 8-4 Louisville & 8-4 SMU and gets to play for a title in its own stadium
I hope not, but I am afraid another round of CFP expansion and five more years of this will make a lot of people view this as a one-month sport like basketball

I’ve never been more sure that Notre Dame didn’t deserve a CFP bid than I am watching this game and realizing they lost to both these teams

It GT wasn’t a rival I bet we’d cancel those games too.
We get nothing of value from playing ACC teams. Even wins against them mean next to nothing. It’s all downside.
It’s becoming just take care of your conference slate and that’s it.
CFP is ruining the sport.

Georgia got it way worse in 2023 and reacted by permanently disabling FSU football.
Stop your belly-aching and teach these young men the right way to react in the face of adversity.

No, the Left didn't kill Charlie Kirk.
Some deranged murderer did.
If we don't recognize that, we're no better than our worst political opponents.
