Over a billion in debt, but yes, more investment needed.
🚨 Lisandro Martinez calls out Manchester United's recruitment following the loss to Atletico in an interview with Amazon.
"We had a fantastic season last season and now we expect more from the top."
Q: This is not a UCL-quality squad? Did you expect more investment in the summer?
"Yes, 100%.
"I expected more from our technical director...
"[Carrick] does his best... You can keep changing, changing, changing the manager, but what about other areas? I can't say more.
"It's easy to say the coach. It's easy to say the players, but we also have to 'see' others [who are to blame]."
Don't back doon... double-doon.

In its IPO prospectus and plans to list on the stock market, Anthropic aims for an almost unprecedented $2 trillion valuation and warns that its technology poses “catastrophic or existential risks to humanity” (see Reuters inter alia)
I asked Anthropic’s Claude to reconcile these statements. This was my favourite of its four attempts:
“If the existential outcome happens, the shares are worthless along with everything else, so no hedge or diversification helps. A rational buyer therefore values the company on the scenarios where humanity survives. The warning barely affects the price, which is why the two statements can sit side by side in one document.”
Holy. Shit.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City found guilty on virtually all charges relating to breaches of Premier League financial regulations. #MCFC expected to appeal against verdict issued by independent commission. Sanctions undecided, process ongoing @TheAthleticFC nytimes.com/athletic/7049721…
I'm no business expert, but you know what they should do in January and next Summer? Spend hundreds of millions on more players.
#MUFC slashed almost 30% of workforce in two years to June 30 2026 with headcount dropping from 1,127 to 805.
In-house media (45% cut) & commercial dept (44%) bore brunt. But 161 jobs shed in admin, including ticketing, and 60 lost among football staff, including scouting & academy coaching.
United debt & outstanding transfer commitments now stand at £1.15BN as it emerged in full 25/26 filing that another £90m was borrowed from revolving credit facility to help fund summer transfers.
Spent £191.7m on signings this summer once agents’ fees & PL levies factored in.
£578m historic debt (following summer refinancing)
£200m drawn down on £400m RCF
£375m in outstanding transfer fees - net amount is £307.1m, of which £193.3m due for repayment in next 12 months.
Could also be an additional £122.8m payable if signings made prior to June 30 this year meet specific performance related targets
