It’s only been 5 days since I launched Geosports and 44k people played before 10am. Mind is blown. Apparently there’s nothing else dudes like more than sports and maps

No. But what they could do is create a “buffer” zone reflecting the margin of error. So if the ball is only in the buffer zone, there could be a compromise: Call stands, but team doesn’t lose a challenge.

Amazing. Tonight we played a highly competitive 3-2 playoff game where both teams cheered for themselves, both teams played good baseball with good energy, and it was enjoyable. No need to make things ugly. I hate to lose, but this is what high school baseball should be. Respect

Baseball parents: Never approach an umpire after a game with anything more than a curious question. Happened tonight w/my partner. Wasn’t a question. I told the person to walk away several times. It won’t ever go well. Please RT. @Seth_3773 @shegone03 @ClintHurdle13

WATCH: A Henry Clay player dribbled the ball out of bounds on a throw-in and no call was made. Ashland broadcaster says it's the worst no-call he’s ever seen. However, the NFHS Case Book says the officials got it right. Henry Clay defeated Ashland 66-64 in the AIT.

This was quickly changed to a wild pitch, which was the correct call. Generally, a rule of thumb for scorers is to look where the catcher is set up, and look at the logo on the chest protector. You draw a radius around that of about 24 inches and if the pitch is outside of that, you are probably looking at a wild pitch. The other clue is look at the catcher's arm. If he has that arm fully extended and across his body, that's a great sign it's a wild pitch and not a passed ball. Additionally, scorer's have an algorithm that is available through some propriatary software that will give them the WP/PB probability, and I'm guessing after the play that was referenced either by the scorer or support, that was used to help change this. Crediting a passed ball is saying the catcher should have handled the pitch with ordinary effort. On this, Smith is set up on the right-hand side of the batter's box for a pitch in, and Hernandez unleashed 101 in the other batter's box. I haven't met Smoltz or @Joe_Davis but they have a really good feel for WP/PB and scoring in general (I really enjoy Davis on Dodgers broadcasts so I hear him a lot), and they were spot on here. #WorldSeries #LetsGoDodgers #WANTITALL
John Smoltz couldn't believe a run-scoring pitch was ruled a passed ball instead of a wild pitch: "That was a passed ball?!... There's no way!" ⚾️🎙️ #MLB #WorldSeries

Massive credit to the dish for staying in that play and calling the force out at home. Very easy to lose focus there when something crazy like that happens.

Liana Rix ejected @LCCaptains pitcher Matt Wilkinson for arguing a ball that wasn’t swung at by @greatlakesloons batter Elijah Hainline. Wilkinson later walked Hainline and continued arguing the 2-2 pitch with base umpire Rix.

History ❤️ Umpiring first base for Game 1 of today’s Marlins-Braves doubleheader, Jen Pawol has become the first woman to umpire in a regular-season MLB game.

Dear 11 & 12 year olds and their parents: The full size field is a year or two away. Those 200-250’ “dingers” you’re hitting now will be fly ball outs soon. I know we love those USSSA bats but you’re also a few years away from using BBCOR bats which will take away your “pop” overnight. The big field is a game changer. It’s a separator. It has a way of humbling those kids who dominated on the small field (and their parents and coaches). Keep working hard but be careful of thinking the game is easy. Each year from here on out will push you to get better. Will reveal your toughness. Expose your weaknesses and challenge you everyday. BTW, that 90’ sprint to first base will make you feel slow!! 🤣🤣 do your sprints!!

It's really just low IQ by the batter-runner. Run to 1B and this can't happen.

If we call it and the ball does drop (intentionally or unintentionally), it's important to reinforce our call with, "Batter's out! He's still out!" or something similar. If the runner(s) go after that, then they have nobody to blame but themselves (not that they should blame us to begin with).

About as well handled as I’ve seen in some time from an MLB Umpire -Pitch was strike and correctly called -Gives Soto some leeway to disagree -Holds off on Ejecting Soto as Met assistants come out -Engages with manager and lets him yell -Tosses Manager, leaves player -Moves on👍🏻
Carlos Mendoza has been ejected after Juan Soto was called out on a questionable strike three.

I have a baseball game on in my house all the time. There’s no other sport that gives you the everyday. Even if it’s a game I don’t care about it’s always on in the background. There is no better sport. Period.

I won't be posting the bottom. You're welcome to look it up, it's public info. I don't think the best get enough attention, and this is an incredibly difficult job. 95+ MPH with breaking balls, most within a couple inches of the edge of the zone. All while the catcher is moving his glove through the catch for deception.

On this senior night, each senior got one final at-bat with their dad throwing the pitch. While rounding the bases, a letter from their parents was read over the speakers with their mothers waiting at home plate🥹

MLB Rule: (Rule 6.01(a)(6)) If a runner intentionally interferes with a batted ball, or interferes with a fielder making a play on a batted ball, the runner is out, and if in the umpire’s judgment a double play was likely, the umpire may call a second runner out as well.

We HAVE to stop blaming umpires for guys being tossed LOL. Like it has to stop. 99 percent of umpires take verbal jabs ALL GAME. In the game of baseball, someone is going to be upset. When you see a guy get thrown out, I absolutely promise it wasn’t the 1st thing said

The kid had been injured earlier. He couldn’t swing due to his right shoulder. He thought this would maybe get him walked. (Don’t know if it was his decision or the coach’s.) it wouldn’t. By rule, the strike call is correct.
