Really happy to see this paper out just in time for Christmas🌟! We identified and confirmed three biological subgroups of sporadic ALS (neuronal signalling, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation) by analysing brain and blood samples with several machine learning approaches.
Many congrats to @HevMarriott in our latest work actaneurocomms.biomedcentral… we derive a robust model to identify ALS molecular subtypes using gene expression, setting potential basis for a personalised approach to ALS research @AmmarAlChalabi @kingsmnd @phidatalab @KCLDriveHealth

Today marks 4yrs since diagnosis & 5 yrs/4mnth since 1st symptom.
This past yr I’ve experienced a winter of back to back viruses, 1 failed drug trial, 1 withdrawal from a drug trial due to adverse reaction & shedding of 1.5 stone in weight

Indeed this is an awful decision and makes a mockery of all of our science. I’ve signed and have been spreading the word. We have to fight this so we can fight MND
NICE has made the decision to treat tofersen, a specialised genetic therapy for a small subset of people with #ALS #MND developed in the UK, as a general therapy, condemning it to fail their assessment. We must change that decision.
