I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.
Something important is happening with FSD v15, and I haven’t seen it framed this way.
For years, Tesla used the customer fleet as the debug layer. New builds went to owners first. Interventions, disengagements, and video from millions of supervised miles told Tesla what still broke. Robotaxi was not the proving ground. Owners were.
v15 reverses that. Early v15 is already running unsupervised on Tesla’s own Robotaxi fleet. Customer cars are still on supervised v14. The newest stack is being validated internally and on a geofenced commercial fleet before it ever becomes a public FSD update.
That is a strategy change.
It does not mean v15 is a small, safety-neutral patch. Tesla has described it as a step-change: multiple parallel improvement tracks, a much larger model, and the software they want before they scale unsupervised operation. The point is different. Tesla now thinks it can ship that stack into cars with no safety driver without first farming bugs out to private owners.
That matters for unsupervised FSD on privately owned cars.
The day Tesla removes the requirement to supervise, it also loses the intervention dataset that built FSD. You cannot keep improving a system the same way if the customer is no longer supposed to grab the wheel. Unsupervised FSD only works long-term if Tesla can keep iterating with internal testing, simulation, and its own fleet.
Putting v15 on Robotaxi first is an early sign they believe that loop is starting to work.
I still expect the first unsupervised customer use to be limited to the Robotaxi geofences. Nationwide unsupervised FSD on private cars is a later step, not the next one.
But the sequence has changed. The customer fleet is no longer the lab. Robotaxi is.
Robotaxi getting v15 before owners is an early sign unsupervised FSD is being prepared for the public, not just the Robotaxi fleet.

A ray of hope for us long-suffering Angels fans. Maybe the frequent chants of "sell the team!" in the stadium finally got through to Moreno.

🚨MAJOR BREAKING: Epstein survivors just announced they will release their own list of names.
“We know who abused us. We saw who came and went. This list will be survivor-led—for survivors.”
The government stalled.
Now the victims are doing it themselves.

I was on the tail end of a 500 mile drive back from Omaha yesterday with my 77 year old dad and we nearly had a very serious accident, possibly deadly for the other driver. Look at this older Toyota Corolla blow this light at 60mph more than 3 seconds after it turns red. If it was me driving, because I could not see the Corolla as it was occluded by the stopped cars, we would have had a head on collision or I'm mid-turn and he would have impacted my dad's side of my @cybertruck. Thankfully @tesla FSD was doing the driving and it has superhuman reaction to brake pedal application time (aka PRT = perception response time) of about 0.25s while very good human is 0.8-0.9s or average human is 1.5-2.5s. This is life saving technology and it may have saved one yesterday.
Thanks to @aelluswamy, @elonmusk, and the whole team behind this.

I thought this was a joke wtf: Claude Opus 5 was left running for 24 hours straight and built an entire game from scratch. without any external assets or code. Prompts, workflow, code are included.

Tesla just sent me a marketing email with this video in the link. It's about a 93-year-old woman who got her independence back thanks to FSD. Bravo! Aging boomers with disposable income are an ideal target market for FSD. It's about time they knew it existed.

I was clearly wrong about Anthropic. They are obviously currently the leader in AI. No company has released a model as good as Mythos/Fable and they will undoubtedly have Mythos 2 ready soon.
And I would never cut them off in a way that hurt them badly, even as a competitor. That’s not my style.
Tesla open sourced its patents and we made the Supercharger network available to all competitors, even though we could have made it a walled garden.

Israeli artist Anna Kogan spent months obsessively researching Elon Musk’s childhood for her latest piece.
She tracked down rare photos, the exact sci-fi books that shaped him as a boy (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Asimov’s Foundation series, Heinlein), and even replicated his childhood Commodore VIC-20 computer.
The result is “The Spark” — a brilliant anamorphic installation. From most angles it looks like a chaotic child’s room full of books and objects. But from one precise viewpoint, Elon’s portrait emerges from the clutter.
A powerful visual metaphor for how childhood imagination and curiosity can turn science fiction into reality.
