Talent agents are there to answer your phone, and then to negotiate on your behalf until you are willing to answer it. If your phone is not ringing yet, you won’t get an agent, and if you do. They will be shit. Don’t get one yet.
The Joker’s line of “Why so serious?” pretty much sums up how my nervous system chooses to respond to panic. After I sit in fear for the longest time, I start seeing the comedy of it all.
Had to do a Will, and almost assigned it all to Wolf, then I remembered: he doesn’t have a bank account.
If a client tells you: we can just do it in AI… then tell them. Yes. That’s what everyone is doing. What do you think will happen when everyone is doing the same thing? If they don’t get it. 10X your rate when they figure it out. You need AI, but not to do the thinking.
Don’t know if anyone can relate, but I find the “credibility” bit on websites soul destroying to write. It’s like writing a political campaign for my life’s work. Can’t I just say: I have done some cool shit, and some shit shit. Google me.
Only give value/adding, executors, attention. Attention is the fuel that those need to matter, and the ones that break stuff will only disappear if we ignore them. Apathy is the cure to a better built world.
The reason why content creators outperform traditional film and tv producers is because they obsess about the data and retention rate. Who cares about your awards, how many people did it entertain?
Entertainment done right is extremely easy to watch, and unfathomably difficult to make. The easier, and more enjoyable to watch it, the more disciplined the craft.
Some clients order AI videos with me, and I refuse- not because I don’t embrace the tech, because AI is not
always right for you. It depends on who you make it for! Who is your customer?y quest is to add value to you, not to keep busy.
My AI editor has decided to edit the profanity out of a video… time to fire it, and get a human in the room!
If it is soulless, no amount of visual spectacle can fix it. And if it has soul, no lack of spectacle can hold it back.
If some idiot comments “AI slop” on a video that went viral, sold 45,000 tickets and was made with some of the best creatives in the business, don’t argue.
The work already has more humanity than their copy-and-paste comment.
Say, “Thanks for the attention.”
