A year ago, we shared our plans to protect artists and listeners from spam, impersonation, and deception in the age of AI. One idea has guided those plans: human artistry comes first.
Since then, our teams have been working hard to make that real. We looked closely at the tracks listeners were skipping, ignoring, or telling us they didn't want to hear. We’ve made numerous updates to our recommendation system to remove slop and spam, and ensure we’re highlighting music made by authentic, human artists. This year alone, we’ve taken 50M+ slop and spam tracks out of recommendations.
That work builds on the tools we’ve launched over the past year, including Verified by Spotify, AI Persona badges, AI Credits, and Artist Profile Protection, to give artists more control and listeners more context.
Artists should be able to trust that their name and their work are theirs. Listeners should be able to trust what they’re hearing. There’s more to do, but today we’re recapping the progress we’ve made keeping Spotify a trusted place for artists and listeners.

Really excited to finally announce this one.
Today, we're introducing a new era of Fresh Finds. Fresh Finds Forward is Spotify's global program giving ~10,000 emerging independent artists each year the resources, community, and support to turn early momentum into long-term growth.
Fresh Finds launched in 2015 to surface emerging independent artists. Over the past decade, the playlists have featured more than 80,000 artists from 127+ countries and served as an early launchpad for names like Laufey, Lil Tecca, Remi Wolf, Ella Langley, sombr, and so many more.
Really proud of what this next chapter looks like. A lot more to come.

Last month we enabled video uploads inside Spotify for Artists - live performances, covers, music videos. The aim was to give you another way to tell your story where fans are already listening.
Today’s update takes that a step further:
- You can now pitch videos for playlist consideration (same flow that you know for songs).
- We’re launching Global Music Video Charts to highlight what’s trending worldwide.
A true titan of the music industry has left us. Rest in peace, Clive Davis. Your unmatched ear for talent shaped the soundtrack of generations. Thank you for the music nytimes.com/2026/06/22/arts/…
We announced Reserved by Spotify today. I have wanted to crack this one for years! You know the feeling. 10am, you're glued to your phone, ready to buy tickets, and somehow you're already behind 10,000 people in the queue. It can feel like the fans who care the most end up missing out.
Starting this summer, if you're one of an artist's biggest fans on Spotify, we'll hold two tickets for you to buy before the general sale. No codes or bots to worry about. This will be an exclusive benefit for Spotify Premium.

Reserved is here! 🎟️ Starting today (with ROLE MODEL being the first artist to kick it off), Spotify Premium subscribers who are among an artist's top fans will get offers to purchase two reserved tickets before the general sale. Held aside for them so there is no stress. Coming to many more tours soon!
Very excited about this: New Music Friday now includes videos from our editors. Every week, they'll break down new tracks, rising artists, and the stories behind the music. You'll be up on what's dropping every week. I think the best part is to see the real human POV behind the recommendation.
Check it out and share your feedback w us:
Authenticity means something different in 2026. We increasingly hear from fans that they want more confidence in trusting what they find on Spotify. They want to know whether they're discovering an artist pursuing music as a career, playing gigs, connecting with fans — or whether it's a persona, a content farm, or some kind of spam.
We have shipped (and continue to build) systems to catch suspicious activity and fight deceptive behavior. But positively verifying what IS authentic also has an important role to play. So today we're starting to roll out something new: a Verified by Spotify badge.
When fans see the badge, they'll know the Spotify team has reviewed the artist to confirm sustained active fan interest, compliance with platform rules, and an authentic profile (the artist is who they claim to be). This is a manual process, so we are starting by reviewing hundreds of thousands of artists that represent over 99% of what listeners search for, and will expand to review more artists over time.
Secondly, we’re adding a new “artist details” section to artist profiles that provide markers of authenticity for an artist. I think of them kind of like nutritional facts on a cereal box where you can get more raw data to inform your decisions.
These artist details - which will show on all artist profiles (not just those with the Verified by Spotify badge) - will list things like which venues the artist recently played; how long they’ve been releasing music, if they’ve ever been playlisted by a Spotify editor. These additional details give fans even more ways to build trust.
Check out all the details here: newsroom.spotify.com/2026-04…
Music being posted to the wrong artist profile is an industry-wide problem, and we're excited to be taking a first step to help.
Today, we're introducing Artist Profile Protection, an optional feature in Spotify for Artists. Turn it on to get notified any time a release is delivered that lists you as an artist, then review and approve it. There's also a delivery key option to pre-approve releases and skip the review step.

Had fun looking back on the songs that shaped my life and earliest memories as a music lover. musicbusinessworldwide.com/k…
In 2025, Spotify paid out more than $11B to rightsholders — over 10% more than in 2024. That growth is real, and it’s helping more artists than ever earn meaningful income from music.
It’s also true that music has never been more competitive. New artists are competing not just with each other, but with the entire history of recorded music. We understand that challenge, and it’s what we’re focused on addressing in 2026. More about how we’re doing that here: artists.spotify.com/blog/wha…
