ATIKU HOSTS A TEAM OF MEDIA INFLUENCERS: DECRIES THE CURRENT STATE OF THE NATION It was like a day of tribute as a team of social media influencers led by Idris Ibrahim Kalgo paid the former vice president of the country, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, GCON, a solidarity visit in his Abuja residence. Speaking at the occasion the leader of the group thanked the Wazirin Adamawa for the warm reception accorded them and explained that the purpose of the visit is to remind Atiku that the group which has a wide network across the country is solidly behind him in his fight to enthrone genuine democracy and good governance in the country, describing the support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) standard bearer in the February general election as the support for the people and the future of the nation. Other members of the group who spoke, paid glowing tribute to the Waziri whom they praised for his doggedness and forthrightness in the fight for justice and equity in the country. They described Atiku Abubakar as the best option for the country on account of his experience and patriotic fervor. Responding, the former vice president appreciated the team for identifying with him despite the controversial PEPT judgement. He commended them for their sacrifices and contributions in the struggle for the enthronement of good governance in Nigeria. He enjoin them to continue in the work of civil advocacy needed to deepen our nascent democracy. He decried the state of the nation: insecurity and poverty in the land that have brought a heavy burden on the hapless citizens of the country. He urged the policy contractors and influencers to continue to use advocacy and civil engagement to draw the attention of the leaders to the untold hardship to which the people have been subjected to. "I enjoin you to make effective use of the new media to inform the people and set the tone for public discourse..." Atiku said. The Waziri also emphasized the need for partnership and concerted effort to rescue the nation from the throes of anarchy, pledging to be available for guidance at any time.
