God Answers Prayer — A Short Story from Finland
For many years, Agape International Baptist Church in Finland did not have their own church building. After many months of hopeful prayer, God, in His perfect timing, led the congregation to the perfect building. Pastor Joel Hietanen tells the story of the power of prayer and God's kindness to their church.
“The joy which answers to prayer give cannot be described” ― George Müller
📍 River Baptism in Peru!
"C is the daughter of a church member. From a young age, she was exposed to expository preaching and at the age of 20, she asked the local church for prayer. Afterward, a discipleship period began. We used “Discovering the Glorious Gospel” as the printed material for discipleship.
She was baptized in the Pampa Flores River, and we are continuing discipleship sessions on Tuesday nights at 7:00 PM. Since she is a young woman, my wife accompanies me. Just recently, the local church was informed so that she could be evaluated for membership."
– HeartCry missionary Wilmer Navarro
“That which begins not with prayer, seldom winds up with comfort.”
– John Flavel
At HeartCry, we hold it as one of our core convictions that prayer is an absolute necessity. The impossible work of missions can be accomplished only through the power and wisdom of God. Therefore, prayer must be at the forefront of all our missionary endeavors.
📍Eastern Zambia
Praise God with us for six baptisms in Zambia!
Last month, HeartCry missionary Bernard Phiri baptized six people after completing an eight-week membership class with them.
Please pray for these new believers, for Chitawe Reformed Baptist Church, and for Pastor Bernard Phiri. Pray that they would remain steadfast, immovable, and always abounding in the work of the Lord as they advance the mission of Christ in their community (1 Corinthians 15:58).
Egypt was historically one of the earliest centers of the Christian church and home to influential church fathers like Athanasius, who defended the deity of Christ and helped form the Nicene Creed. Although Egypt remained a Christian nation for many centuries, the gospel was gradually overshadowed. Today, Islam has become the national religion rather than Christianity.
How to Pray for Egypt:
– Pray that the Lord would raise up pastors who are devoted to the Word and to prayer and who boldly preach the whole Scripture.
– Pray that God would use His powerful gospel to stop the spread of Islam in Egypt.
– Pray that believers would mature in their faith through the knowledge of Christ.

To better serve our missionaries, HeartCry now has field coordinators who will work closely with the missionaries in each region. These men will help us maintain a closer connection with our missionaries, better understand their needs, and provide care and support as they labor in the gospel.
We are grateful to the Lord for these men and for the opportunity the Lord gave us to study His Word together in preparation for their responsibilities. Please pray that the Lord would give them wisdom, humility, and faithfulness as they serve Christ.
The Tawbuid people on the island of Mindoro in the Philippines were historically isolationists: afraid of spirits, ghosts, and strangers. They would run and hide from everything. They now run into the jungle, not to hide, but to share the gospel with those who are under the same darkness that they used to experience.
Though older now and more frail, HeartCry missionary and Pastor Yannie leads the village in these evangelistic excursions deep in the mountains. Afraid of outsiders, it is rare for a tribal village to open their home to hear a gospel message. But because Yannie is one of them, they listen.
Pastor Yannie shares,
“...If we believe in Him with our whole heart, If we repent of our sins completely and forsake them, and if we believe in Him, in Jesus, He will save us to be like Him. There is only one way—that is trusting Jesus to save us... This is called the mercy of God. The gift of God. The grace of God. Salvation is free.”
Meet HeartCry missionary Shem S. from Cambodia.
Shem recounts his testimony:
"One day, my sister went to the market in Rokarkong village, and she met a man who is a believer in Jesus. He gave the New Testament to my sister. When she returned home, she gave that Bible to me to read to her, because she was illiterate. As I read the Bible to her, I came to John 3:16. I was drawn to focus on that verse, and I repeated it. I realized the truth that the only one true God loves people. I continued to read other verses too.
On December 24, 1988, there was one church in my village that celebrated Christmas, and they invited me and my sister to attend that celebration. When we reached the church, many people were attending and welcomed us, and the program started. A pastor preached from John 3:16, which was the Scripture I was reading before. I was very interested in learning more about the love of God. I was listening very carefully, and at the end of the preaching, the pastor invited us to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior.
I was sitting at the back, and I raised my hand with two others. We walked to the front, and the pastor asked us many questions. He took time with us to make certain we were genuinely believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and understanding our need for Jesus to forgive our sins. In 1990, I was baptized with many other believers.
I thank God that He called me and changed my heart and life. I believe in His power and calling and that God gave me the desire to proclaim the gospel. He saved me and prepared me for His service so that I might be an instrument to proclaim His truth to Cambodia. I want to thank Him for His saving grace and power to make me a different person. To God be the glory.”

Two believers were just baptized in South Africa by HeartCry missionary Matthew Damonze!
Though their backgrounds are very different, these two believers are now united in their faith in Christ.
One woman, L. (picture 2), came from a difficult background:
“…I do not look back at my life and say, 'Look at how strong I was.' I look back and say, 'Look at how faithful God was.' There have been many times when I have experienced His help and goodness in my life. And now I know that the greatest testimony is not what God has given me, but who God is: He is faithful. He is merciful. He is patient. He is sovereign. And He is the God who keeps His people. As Scripture says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). I have walked through some very dark valleys, but I can testify today that God has been faithful through every one of them.”
The other believer, S. (picture 1), was raised in a Christian home and shared a distinctly different testimony:
“…For some time, I felt that I was not doing enough in my spiritual life or that I was not yet close enough to Christ to be baptized. Through the preaching at church, lengthy conversations with my parents, who have themselves been baptized as believers, and a careful study of Scripture, I learned that baptism is not for the perfectly righteous or mature Christian, but for anyone who accepts the Lord Jesus as their Savior and truly believes that He died on the cross to save us from our sins.
I came to realize that I must not allow my own imperfections or feelings of inadequacy to keep me from taking this important step of obedience. There is no such thing as the perfect Christian, which is precisely why we all need Jesus. Since making the decision to be baptized and publicly profess my faith in the Lord, I have found true joy and peace in Him and in His promise of eternal life. I have found that I feel closer to Him than ever before, and I cannot wait to continue my walk with Christ.”
"To live for Jesus..."
Meet HeartCry missionary Mario Flores.
Mario is from Iquitos, Peru, and he is the pastor of True Grace Bible Church. Despite a difficult upbringing, the Lord used a youth meeting to change his heart and teach him about the Word of God.
As he grew in his faith, Mario recounts: “I felt a strong call to missions, evangelism, and pastoral ministry—to live for God, to live for Jesus Christ, to give my life to serving in ministry.”
Pastor Mark Acsay and his congregation are passing out 35,000 gospel tracts in Thailand.
In this clip, Pastor Mark shares the story of one fruitful encounter with an older lady. This lady was led to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ through the initial connection of the gospel tracts.
"The most beautiful thing is that when she read John 3:16, she saw it as a promise..."

Meet Pastor Kondi Nyanda.
Kondi is a church planter at Grace Bible Church in central Malawi.
He recounts his testimony of conversion and his call to ministry:
“I grew up in a Christian home, where both my parents were faithful members of one of the mainline churches in Malawi. After observing the character of Christians, I mastered the way Christians talk and live.
It would be hard for people to trace my hypocrisy.
By the grace of God alone, I was introduced to the faith over a period of two years. At my high school graduation, a man came to preach at our school. He challenged us and preached about the love of God for us. He exhorted us from the Word and made us see our sin.
I realized that I was living in sin, and that God could never tolerate it.
The Lord used John 3:16 to draw me to Himself. I repented of my sins before Him in my room and prayed that He would forgive me of my total disobedience towards Him. He forgave me, and I was saved in 1995. The Lord gave me joy and hope.
Although I had a personal relationship with God, I never had a church that could disciple me to grow. I jumped from church to church until I had the opportunity to serve alongside a missionary named Dr. Charles Woodrow, who was serving in Mozambique.
The Lord used him to open my eyes to see the need of faithfully serving Him while we live here on earth. One day, when He asked me what I want to do in my life, I told him that I wanted to serve Christ in my country of Malawi.
The Lord opened the door for me to be trained and equipped for ministry at one of the TMAI training institutions in South Africa. It was there that the desire to serve Him in the church grew. The Lord opened doors and directed me into service for Him, which was confirmed by the elders of Christ Baptist Church in South Africa in 2005.
Although I was established in Mozambique, the need for good solid reformed churches in Malawi propelled me to run the race of serving and living my life for Him among my own people.”
Baptism in Northern Asia!
"We recently conducted a baptism for a young man. I am grateful to the Lord for always demonstrating His faithfulness to us through His care. He is multiplying the church and establishing it in the truth.
We feel and see the fruit of your prayer support, as God is truly at work in our lives and ministry. This is a great encouragement to us. Thank you, dear brothers and sisters!"

A local pastor in Thailand is handing out 35,000 gospel tracts in the city of Ratchaburi.
“It's 35,000 gospel tracts, and we're aiming to give out all of them…”
Ratchaburi, Thailand is a city characterized by Buddhism and idolatry. Though Thailand’s Christian population is less than 1%, Pastor Mark Acsay and his congregation are filled with hope and joy as they seek to reach “even just one” with the hope of the gospel.
