𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 Waterford City and County Council is encouraging families to make the school journey more active, healthy and enjoyable, with parents and guardians now able to park free of charge at Bolton Street Car Park in Waterford City until 9.30am on school days. While walking, cycling and other forms of active travel are encouraged; families who need to drive can park and stride or use the drop and go option, helping to ease traffic congestion around school gates and create a safer environment for students and the wider community. The free morning parking builds on recent Safe Routes to School works in the Newtown area of Waterford City, delivered by Waterford City and County Council. It also supports local schools taking part in Stride to School which encourages students and families to travel more actively for the school journey. Stride to School encourages school communities to walk, cycle, drop and go, or park and stride. These small changes can help students build physical activity into their daily routine, while creating a more enjoyable start and finish to the school day and supporting stronger connections within the school community. #ActiveTravel #Waterford
