Received this email from the Journal of Marketing & Supply Chain Management (ISSN: 2754-6683). One of the formats you can submit is a Powerpoint presentation. This made me wonder, has anybody published a powerpoint presentation in a journal which is considered both high quality and legitimate? ... and has that powerpoint "publication" been cited? This is crazy. It's right to retract - but it should NEVER have got through the editorial processes. How hard is it to check for things like this. ... I did hear another view (long time ago - can't remember who made the point) that in some ways it is good, as: 1⃣It highlights that the authors have acted frauduently - if it was just "rejected" nobody would know. 2⃣ They would have spent a lot of effort getting the paper "published" to no avail. 3⃣ They would have spent money on APCs, which have been wasted. 4⃣ If there were additional charges for the "paper mill" activity, those authors who are now out of pocket may demand their money back from the paper millers. Not saying that @ElsevierConnect were thinking like this and not saying that it is a good way to deal with these type of papers (for one the authors can still list the paper as it is not always obvious that it is retracted), but I can see that there are some "benefits" to the points above.
