Over on Facebook we're delighted to share Albert Roxborough's virtual tour of Head Wrightson. fb.watch/5jFi2zQ7GX/
Many thanks to Meriel Fawbert for sending a photo of her father, Peter Fawbert (left). He was born in 1943 and worked at #HeadWrightson from being an apprentice until he was 30. He was a fitter and turner. To the right is his friend Peter Such.
Thrilled that one of the #HeadWrightson photographers has been in touch to share some memories & images.
Alan Rowbotham worked in the photo department as a photographer from 1963 until 1968. Here's a picture of Alan taken on the top of the Transporter Bridge c. 1965.
Many thanks to Dennis Longstaff for sending us these photos of his grandfather’s retirement gifts. A valuable reminder of the #HeadWrightson culture of the time.
Matty Preece, foreman anglesmith in the Bridgeyard.
Perhaps it is better that some things are lost in history. Mainly things that begin “How those toilets look so…” Rear Axle Castings, September 1976.
