I owned a '72 Charger with that 440 Magnum. Loved to guzzle gas, but sure would get up and go.
The Car That Was Too Fast for Steve McQueen On October 17, 1968, Bullitt opened in New York. Steve McQueen's Mustang became a Hollywood legend. But during filming, the crew ran into a problem involving the villain's Dodge Charger. And the solution was almost as surprising as the chase itself. 🏎️ Steve McQueen, behind the wheel of a dark green Ford Mustang, pursued a black Dodge Charger through the steep streets of San Francisco. But behind the scenes, the filmmakers had an unusual problem. The bad guys' car was too fast. The Mustang was equipped with a 390-cubic-inch V8 engine rated at 325 horsepower. The Charger had a larger 440-cubic-inch V8 producing 375 horsepower. And that difference mattered. According to accounts from the production, the Charger was so much faster that its drivers sometimes had to ease off the accelerator to keep the Mustang close enough for the cameras. Imagine that. In one of Hollywood's greatest pursuits, the getaway car had to slow down so the hero could keep chasing it. The driving itself was no ordinary Hollywood illusion. McQueen was an accomplished driver and handled some of the scenes himself. But professional stunt drivers, including Bud Ekins, Carey Loftin, and Loren Janes, helped perform the dangerous high-speed sequences. Bill Hickman, the stunt driver behind the Charger's wheel, also played one of the hitmen in the film. Director Peter Yates wanted audiences to feel the speed, not simply watch it from a distance. Cameras were positioned close to the action, and the cars thundered through real streets rather than relying on the rear-projection techniques common in earlier films. The result was nearly eleven minutes of screeching tires, roaring engines, and spectacular jumps. The chase helped redefine what audiences expected from movie action. And 58 years later, there's a wonderful irony in remembering it. Steve McQueen's Mustang became a Hollywood legend. But the Dodge Charger was the car that had to hold back.

50 Shades for Men 'I'm a bad girl,' she whispered, 'Punish me in a way only a real man can!' 'Alright,' I said and left my wet towels on the bathroom floor. 'I want it now against this wall!' she ordered, 'And keep it up as long as possible.' 'Don't worry,' I said, 'I know how to put up a shelf.' As we sat in the dark restaurant, she stroked my thigh and said 'I want to see your hardness.' 'Alright,' I replied, and punched the waiter. At the touch of her lips, it grew long and swollen. I sighed as she squeezed and pulled expertly. It was the best balloon giraffe I'd seen. Staring at her naked body, I asked what she wanted. She told me to go for something between a smack and a stroke. So I went for a smoke. 'How do you feel about using toys in the bedroom?' she asked. 'Fine,' I said, 'But I can't see how we're going to fit a Scalextric in here.' Her body tensed and quivered as she felt wave after wave flow through it. I probably should've told her about the new electric fence. As I lay there on the floor, my body covered in treacle and whipped cream, I heard those inevitable words . . . 'Clean up on aisle 3.' 'Are you ready to be tortured in a way only a woman can torture a man?' she asked. I nodded nervously. 'OK' she said and ate half my chips. Frantically I tore off her dress, bra and knickers. My heart was racing but I just managed to close the wardrobe door before she got home. 'Hurt me!' she begged, leaning over the dining table expectantly. 'OK,' I replied, 'Your turkey's too dry and your sprouts are overcooked.' She leant over the kitchen table. 'Smack that bottom,' she squealed, 'Smack it hard!' 'I am,' I said, 'But the ketchup just won't come out.' She wanted to try phone sex so I pretended to be an IT support guy. It turned her on. Then it turned her off. Then it turned her on again. They asked me to smear their naked bodies with the produce from my herb garden but I just couldn't do it. Too many women, not enough thyme. 'I'm your slave,' she said breathlessly, 'Make me feel completely helpless and worthless.' So I locked her in the shed and went to the pub. Her body trembled and shook.'I can't wait any longer, do it now!' she cried. 'OK,' I said and got the winter duvet from the airing cupboard. 'Harder!' she cried, gripping the workbench even tighter, 'Harder!' 'Alright,' I said, 'What's the gross national product of Nicaragua?' 'Hurt me!' she cried, pressing her body up against the shed wall. 'Alright,' I said. 'You're a terrible cook and I fancy your sister. 😁😁

A shoemaker's son who left school at 16 wrote a book in 1854 that nobody knew what to do with, and 83 years later a 21-year-old at MIT opened it and found the blueprint for every computer chip on Earth. I went down this rabbit hole at 1am and I still can't get over how thin the thread is. His name was George Boole. The book is called The Laws of Thought. Boole never went to university. Not for a single day. His father fixed shoes in Lincoln, England, and spent his spare money on telescopes and math books instead of the shop. The shop failed. At 16, George started teaching just to feed the family. So he taught himself everything else at night. At 14 he translated an ancient Greek poem into English. A local paper printed it. A schoolmaster wrote in to say no boy that age could have done it. By 1849, a university in Ireland made him its first professor of mathematics. A man with no degree, now handing them out. Then he asked a strange question. What if thinking follows rules, the same way numbers do? Every argument you've ever had is built from statements that are either true or false. "It's raining." "I have an umbrella." Boole wanted to do math on those, the way you do math on 2 and 3. So he built an algebra with only two numbers. - 1 means true - 0 means false - AND works like multiplying - OR joins two ideas together - NOT flips one into the other The whole system rested on one odd little equation. x times x equals x. Try it with any normal number and it breaks. 5 times 5 is not 5. It only works for two numbers in the entire universe. Zero and one. "Let us conceive, then, of an Algebra in which the symbols x, y, z, &c. admit indifferently of the values 0 and 1, and of these values alone." That's Boole, in 1854. Mathematicians found it clever. Philosophers argued about it. Nobody built a single thing with it. Boole died ten years later at 49, after walking two miles to a lecture in pouring rain. He never saw his idea do anything useful. Jump to 1936. A 20-year-old named Claude Shannon is working on a giant calculating machine at MIT. It's packed with relays, little electrical switches that click open and shut. Wiring them together is mostly guesswork. But Shannon had taken a philosophy class back at the University of Michigan. It covered Boole. He looked at the switches and saw the 1s and 0s. - A closed switch lets current through. That's 1. - An open switch blocks it. That's 0. - Two switches in a row only pass current if both are closed. That's AND. - Two switches side by side pass current if either one is closed. That's OR. Boole's algebra of thought was also an algebra of electricity. Same rules. Same two numbers. Shannon wrote it up as his master's thesis in 1937. The psychologist Howard Gardner later called it possibly the most important master's thesis of the century. Shannon just shrugged. "It just happened that no one else was familiar with both fields at the same time." Sit with that for a second. The idea was sitting in a library for 83 years. It only needed one person who happened to be standing in two rooms at once. The phone in your hand holds billions of those switches. Every photo, every text, every AI answer is them flipping between 1 and 0, following rules a self-taught teacher wrote down before the light bulb existed. Boole thought he was writing down how the human mind works. He ended up writing down how machines would think.
