My coworker's mother passed away last November.
She left her modest $190,000 house to him clear and free, no mortgage, completely paid off after thirty years of factory work.
He moved into the home in January to finally settle the estate.
Two weeks ago, a letter arrived from the state Medicaid estate recovery office.
Because his mother spent four months in a rehabilitation facility before she passed, the state quietly slapped a retroactive $114,000 lien against the property title.
He called the state health department, frantic, asking how a hospital stay could bankrupt an inherited home that had no mortgage balance.
The caseworker sighed and told him:
"Federal law requires state programs to claw back healthcare costs from deceased estates. The house cannot be sold or transferred until the balance is cleared in full."
He offered to pay a monthly settlement.
They said no. The full $114,000 is due in 60 days, or they foreclose on the property at a public auction.
A lifetime of working-class savings, wiped out overnight by a retroactive healthcare lien.
You don't own generational wealth.
You're just holding a property title until the state finds a legal mechanism to repossess it the moment you die.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Because the house is worth $190,000 and the average house sale price is over$440,000, the house likely qualifies for the "modest value" exemption. (Check county values)
YOU MUST APPLY FOR THIS WITHIN 60 DAYS OF GETTING THE NOTICE!!!

Officials from the international Red Cross visited the camps regularly and had complete access to the camps, documented everything and estimated the total dead from all the camps to be around 271,000 to 290,000.
About half of these dead were jewish.
The "6,000,000" figure was achieved through the torture of Rudolph Höss (commandant to Auschwitz) by the British. This is confirmed in the book
"Legions of Death" by Rupert Butler.
All we have as proof of the "Holocaust" is eye witness testimonies and post-war confessions. And we all know that we can't trust the eye witnesses.

Only 2-3,000 died on the Houthis march to power while it took 377,000 deaths to attempt to reverse the Yemeni revolution.
Do you think it was worth it @jalalayn ?
🇸🇦🇾🇪 According to Sami Hamdi (@SALHACHIMI) celebrating Ansarullah for their commitment to Palestine "is built on the idea that the Yemeni blood means nothing to you." This was said on The Thinking Muslim (@jalalayn) podcast.
Yemeni blood means nothing to people who praise Ansarullah for their commitment to Palestine?
Sami has advocated the Saudi negotiating position on Yemen for 10 years, which is that the starvation will stop ONLY when Ansarullah hands power to a bunch of exiles in Riyadh, even if 260k Yemeni children under five die in the process.
On 30 September 2016 Hamdi tweeted (video):
"Why is Saudi being asked to end the war when an armed militia has seized the capital? Surely it is the Houthi who has to withdraw."
On 2 October 2017 Hamdi told al-Jazeera:
"If the international community is concerned about the human rights, if they really want to deal with this humanitarian situation, I argue the solution is simple. Ask Houthi to leave Sanaa."
Then:
"When we focus on the humanitarian crisis and the human rights, and it deserves specific attention, I agree. The problem is this feeds into the Houthi propaganda."
His worry? That "as long as the humanitarian crisis continues, international attention will force Saudi to the negotiation table".
Why was forcing Saudi Arabia to the negotiating table to stop children starving to death a bad thing, Sami?
Just ask yourself, how many people were killed on Ansarullah's path to power from the end of the Sa'ada wars in 2010 to the September 2014 revolution? Around 2-3,000 people on all sides, pretty much all combatants, and remember, the Yemeni state under Saleh started those wars.
For Sami, this violence was unjustifiable!
Now ask yourself, how many people were killed primarily due to Saudi-led efforts to defeat the Ansarullah revolution by force? At least 377,000 people from 2015 to 2021, of which, 70% were children under five according to the UNDP.
For Sami, this violence is completely justified!
Sami, why is it justified for foreign powers to kill that many Yemeni children to roll back an indigenous revolution?
Muhammad (@jalalayn), you gave Sami the platform. Do you agree with the Saudi war strategy of collectively punishing the Yemeni people to defeat the Ansarullah-led government in Sana'a, like your guest?
