I really hope we can bring back our steel, our aluminum smelting, our polymer industry… everything we’ve sent to China. Our optical manufacturing, our injection molding, our tooling expertise, and the high-end machinery needed to make all of the above. There’s no reason that an automated America cannot do these things. There’s no reason we cannot be competitive with all of these other countries. We have to decide that we’re going to do it. People think I’m overly optimistic, but I think there are strong reasons to believe we can uniquely pull it off.” I agree with Palmer here. There’s absolutely no reason America cannot automate a lot of these manufacturing inputs again. Yes the cost may come up, but how expensive would it be in wartime if we abruptly lost supply and manufacturing capacity. If you think back to a time like Covid, and supply disruptions in the effect that that had on the economy, imagine what happens if we go to war with China.
