Had SUCH a fun time working on this project! Check it out at link.springer.com/book/10.10… to read my thoughts on Terry Pratchett’s Unseen University and it’s relationship to the academy! Super proud to be a part of this amazing collection
And it is published! Thanks @marcusharmes @CirculatingLib @bethmichaelfox @HawcoVictoria @DrAnaStevenson and all our other contributors! @Palgrave have done a fine job, methinks…! @unisqaus @UniNewEngland @NTEUnion @SaveAusUnis #academiclife

unfortunately the secret to finishing a dissertation is to just do this every day for 3 years
Opened up my dissertation for the first time in a month, wrote one sentence, and fell asleep for an hour

My least favourite part about this heat wave is that I can actively feel it shortening my fuse and making me unreasonable about random things

The last month all I’ve done is write 5000 terrible and barely connected words for a chapter, edit them before giving up, redo my outline and start rewriting all of those words again but to be less terrible. Ah, the PhD life.

I am permitting myself the next week to fall down a Dragon Magazine paratext rabbit hole (again…), which should not make me as excited as it does but alas! Rabbit holes are fun even if they inevitably delay more important stuff

I keep opening Twitter and then remembering I shouldn’t be in Twitter today

I’ve been taking melatonin to fall asleep too much so I’m switching to a new strategy of reading an incredibly dense and/or boring book before bed. Tonight it’s a 600 page history of the Middle Ages, wish me luck

Finally, FINALLY had the epilogue session for my 4 year long homebrew campaign. 4 years, 85 sessions, 17 levels. Feels surreal, and I already miss that world and those characters. On to the next!

And they’re even good words, which is not always the case

Getting to write about TTRPGs for work is actually the best. I more than doubled my usual daily word output cause it’s just so fun to write about!
