Death Sentence Reissued Against Kurdish Political Prisoner Varisheh Moradi Despite Supreme Court Overturning Previous
Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Abolghasem Salavati, has once again sentenced Varisheh Moradi, a Kurdish political prisoner and women’s rights activist, to death on the charge of “membership in a rebellious group.” The verdict was notified to her lawyers on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 (22 Mehr 1405), and may be appealed within 20 days. The renewed death sentence comes despite the Supreme Court of Iran having previously overturned the ruling due to fundamental deficiencies in the investigation and failure to observe legal procedures.

No Charges, No Trial: Parsa Najafi Detained for More Than 120 Days
It was learned on 5 October 2026 that, more than 120 days after his arrest, Mr. Parsa Najafi, a 20-year-old Bahá’í resident of Isfahan, remained in Dastgerd Prison without resolution of his case. His detention order had again been extended.
As of 9 October 2026, Mr. Najafi had been held in custody for approximately 126 days, yet judicial proceedings in his case had not commenced and no formal charges had been announced.
After nearly three months without access to telephone calls or family visits, Mr. Najafi’s parents were recently permitted to meet with him. The visits were conducted separately and under supervision, and his parents were prohibited from discussing his case, detention conditions, or experiences in custody.
Concerns had previously been raised about Mr. Najafi’s access to legal representation because his lawyer had not been permitted to review the case file.
Mr. Najafi was arrested by agents of the Isfahan Intelligence Department on 6 June 2026. At the same time, security agents raided his family home and confiscated personal items belonging to him and his family.
Following his arrest, Mr. Najafi was subjected to pressure and threats aimed at obtaining televised confessions. Security agents had also previously searched his family home on 22 December 2024.

@ZDFheute reports that Baha'i art photographer Navid Irani has been held in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad since his arrest on 16 January 2026, during the nationwide January protests. His supporters fear for his life.
According to ZDF, he is expected to appear before a court in Mashhad in the coming days. Navid Irani belongs to the Baha'i religious minority, whose members have been systematically suppressed in Iran for decades.
Supporters believe he was prevented from exhibiting his photographic work because of his faith and was subjected to persistent pressure and discrimination by authorities.
Mariam Claren of HAWAR.help told ZDF that since the Israeli-American attacks on Iran began in February 2026, the situation has worsened further, especially for Baha'is. CDU foreign policy politician Norbert Röttgen is accompanying the case and demanding Irani's release.

Wie kann es sein, dass die Schicksale dieser jungen Männer und Frauen die Welt so wenig interessieren?
Alireza Sepahi sollte bereits am 28. Juli in aller Öffentlichkeit (!) hingerichtet werden. Kurz zuvor erlitt er jedoch einen Herzinfarkt und wurde ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert. Nun ist es geschehen. Gestern Abend gab es ein letztes Telefonat zwischen ihm und seiner Verlobten Mashhad Keshani: Die beiden heirateten am Telefon. Ein gemeinsames Leben, das nie beginnen durfte.
Im Wochentakt werden Protestierende vom Regime in Iran hingerichtet. Die Gefangenen werden gefoltert, um ihnen Zwangsgeständnisse zu entlocken für Verbrechen, die sie nie begangen haben. Alles was sie wollen, ist ein Leben in Freiheit und Würde. General strike across Kurdistan on fourth anniversary of Jina Amini’s killing
Hengaw has verified through videos and information received from local sources that businesses across Saqqez, the birthplace of Jina Amini, are observing a complete strike on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, marking the fourth anniversary of her state killing.
Hengaw has also confirmed widespread strikes in Sanandaj (Sine), Divandarreh, Mahabad, Bukan, and Oshnavieh (Shno).

Während immer lauter vom „neuen“ und angeblich „sicheren“ Syrien gesprochen wird, müssen wir fragen: Sicher für wen?
Kurdische Kräfte haben im Kampf gegen den IS einen unvorstellbaren Blutzoll gezahlt. Sie haben nicht nur ihre Heimat, sondern die ganze Welt verteidigt. Und jetzt sollen sie wieder um ihr Leben, ihre Rechte und ihre Zukunft fürchten?
Wie weit soll dieser Verrat an den Kurden und den Minderheiten Syriens noch gehen? Wie viel Blut sollen sie noch bezahlen, während andere wegschauen und zur Tagesordnung übergehen?
Wir werden nicht schweigen.
