Hi everyone. We haven't been too active on here lately (more on that soon), but we have still been doing some great science. The latest paper from our lab, led by the exceptionally talented @YajunXie is finally out at @NatureNeuro! Short summary below... nature.com/articles/s41593-0…
This study highlights the diversity and plasticity of astrocytes - these beautiful cells that form constellations throughout the brain and contribute crucially to circuit development, maintenance and function, can bloom wherever they are, regardless of where they came from
Many thanks to everyone involved in the study, to our wonderful collaborators @UCSFstemcell, @ChanZuckerberg, @dgsomucla (@yezhangyezhang) and our funding sources, particularly the grants from @NIH, without which none of this work would be possible.

I'm so excited to share my first preprint from @Lab_Pollen at @UCSF on the phylogenetic and spatial distribution of TAC3 interneurons. This story was an adventure filled with twists and turns we never saw coming. Check out the preprint and a summary below!

Please check our newest study on @biorxivpreprint - a tour de force led by the phenomenal @Chris_M_Reid, describing the diversity of neurons in the lateral septum in terms of transcriptomics, anatomical distribution, connectivity and electrophysiology: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
If you want to know a bit more about Corey, please check this interesting piece in @NatureNeuro, where he discusses his background and career path with @sharilwiseman: nature.com/articles/s41593-0…

Thank you all!AND We are still collecting feedback!🤗
Another preprint from the lab! We dive deeper into the septum, exploring its astrocyte diversity. The fantastic @YajunXie led this impressive project to answer a BIG question: is it nature or nurture for astrocyte specification? Take a look to find out!

Here is the latest from the lab! Our first preprint since we moved to UCSF, but it has been in the works for some time - we first noticed this exciting phenotype (see Figure 1) almost seven years ago, and have been intrigued and fascinated by the septum ever since...
Huge congratulations to Dr. Simon! We are all really looking forward to having Rhiana join us for her postdoc - and to her upcoming (and fantastic!) paper as well...
It finally happened. After 7 years, I'm finally a doctor 🥳 Many thanks to @gstuber for his wonderful mentorship over the years! I'm so excited to next start my postdoc over at the @Harwell_Lab in a couple months!!

Are you interested in what #astrocytes do in the context of synapses and white matter of the 🧠? We wrote a review for that!
