We need to cut emissions. We need renewable energy. We also need to consider the use of nuclear power. We haven't yet seen many of the negative effects of climate change in the UK - but we will. We also need to highlight the many associated positives of taking action.
'We're probably not going to get anywhere close to 81% unless we look at nuclear.' Environmental scientist, Professor Christian Dunn, reacts to Keir Starmer's target of cutting Britain's carbon emissions by 81% by 2035.

Science in Action leads today with a truly inspirational interview with @kkariko, one of this week's @Nobel Laureates for her work laying the path to the COVID mRNA vaccines - on pure/applied science, and keeping going when those around you don't get it. bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3ct4sc…

It's here. The image I've been waiting for. MIRI's view of the Pillars of Creation. Words fail me. The light has been filtered to emphasise the dust rather than make it translucent, which you might have expected at mid-infrared wavelengths. Incredible. @NASAWebb @ESA_Webb

Are there any delivery drivers working as independent contractors on here that would like to chat about their work and surveillance whilst driving for the BBC?? Would love an off the record chat!

“Physics isn’t something that girls tend to fancy. They don’t want to do it. They don’t like it… There’s a lot of hard maths in there that they don’t want to do.” 🤦🏻‍♀️ @Miss_Snuffy, UK Government Social Mobility Commission Chair #WomenInSTEM parliamentlive.tv/Event/Inde… – at Camden Town, London

SO I work in news and never bother to share any of the neat stuff I see. From now on I'm going to try and bring you some of the latest science that may or may not hit the headlines as soon as the embargo is lifted. Stay tuned for intermittent updates...
