Mirror-flat water in late October? Rice Lake doesn't hand these out often, so Brian grabbed this one of West Sugar Island right off our dock. If your boat's still in, today was the day. We'd have been out there too if the shop wasn't full of yours. 🍂
10:45 AM on Rice Lake. Looks more like night.
A weekend's worth of boats came in and the crew's working through every one, rain or not.
Service request: hbwservice.ca

Painted in 1989 by our customer Tony Gerritsen, from the roof of his Georgian Steel houseboat at the end of our dock. That's our boathouse in the middle, here since 1955. Tony was a very kind man, gone too soon. If this painting ever comes down, it goes back to his family.
Mike and Tom heading out on Rice Lake this morning. Glass-calm water, sky on fire, lines in the water before most people finish their coffee. Not a bad commute.

When you have a nice September evening on the lake, you take all your golden haired critters for a boat cruise up the Otonabee.
You don't need your own boat to fish Rice Lake.
Rental went out today. This came back. Seeing people out there with family and friends is the best part of the rental side.

Starter bolts: out. Engine: never moved. Chiropractor: on standby.
The most ridiculous game of Twister ever played.
HBW Legend Larry Lofchick back from Rice Lake with two chunky largemouth. The bass are eating. Get out there.
No road to Black Island. So the flagstone and the plants take the barge. Noble Roots Landscaping loaded up at our dock this morning, headed across Rice Lake.
Audrina already called dibs on the purple one.
New HBW tees are in. Four colours, $20 each, sizes M to XL.
In-store only. Grab yours next time you're at the marina in Gores Landing.
Last night's storm sank our own service boat right in its slip. Crew grabbed the barge and the pump, and the SeaArk was floating again before the coffee got cold. Motor never went under. All in a day's work at HBW.
First shrinkwrap of the season. In July. Somebody out there has fully given up and honestly, respect.
Hudson's smiling because it's one boat. Last fall he learned what a full winterize season feels like.
Jim Harris and Tim McGill, early 90s, pulling a wooden cruiser out for the winter. Chain hoists and slings, no readouts. They just knew what she weighed.
Prom night, 1990. Cousin David Walter worked here as a teen, so before the dance we made him pose mid-wrench in his suit. Some photos age better than the motors.
Storm: 0. Rice Lake: 1.
The daily thunderstorm came, yelled, and left. Back to business as usual at the docks.
