On This Day in Metal October 11, 1990 Death, Carcass and Pestilence arrived at Fitzgerald’s in Houston, Texas, for a show that quickly descended into chaos. The crowd was so violent that a knife was reportedly pulled on a monitor technician, live ammunition was found onstage, and Death’s Chuck Schuldiner eventually walked off after being bumped and doused with water during “Living Monstrosity.” Tables flew, windows were smashed, and more than 20 police cars and a police helicopter were called in. The tour later reached Portland, where Death drummer Bill Andrews was nearly hit by a car during another bizarre confrontation.
