Started off this morning's Higher class with a short recall activity - using a noughts & crosses grid activity to recall what we have learned about the painting Guernica. Pupils answered without using their notes, then highlighted any areas they were unsure of to go back over

S2's were given a 'Bake Off' style challenge to make a 3D poppy sculpture in one period using a variety of materials and present their poppy to the rest of the class at the end. Such a wide variety of outcomes demonstrating problem solving and creativity skills!

A simple strategy useful in all subjects to promote better Oracy and vocabulary teaching is Think, Pair, Share - we have a created a pupil 'cheat sheet' with sentence stems on every table to help scaffold the pupil talk and help embed more opportunities for Oracy in the classroom
