White Australia doesn’t hate racism enough; it hates being called racist. That’s why Black pain gets treated like a debate and white discomfort gets treated like an emergency.

I came across a post on Reddit that said: “AI’s underlying purpose is to let wealth access skill while taking away the skilled person’s ability to access wealth.” I don’t think I’ve ever seen the economic implications of AI put so incisively.

RT @cem_uk_: The five men arrested over the Fairford incident have been released on bail, and as many have pointed out, that looks rather o…
🚨BREAKING NEWS Young people in Germany protesting the mandatory military service examination burned and ate their draft notices. For the past few months, we’ve been told by people with a crystal ball that an attack on UK soil was imminent, and now it’s finally happened. There was an incident at RAF Fairford last night that resulted in 85 homes being evacuated. The media would like you to know this incident was terrifying. So terrifying, in fact, that you should probably get ready for war. This is an emerging story, but here’s what I’ve managed to piece together so far. Given the media seems to be making this up as it goes along, some of the details are probably gonna change. Needless to say, they have plot holes to fill… A farmer was driving home in the early hours of the morning and she noticed three white vans blocking the road. No one was inside them. She turned around and spotted a bunch of Middle Eastern-looking boys running off into the woods. Those woods were incredibly dark, but thankfully, she has the eyes of an owl. She was able to work out their ethnicity through the shadow of the trees, despite the fact they were wearing masks. She called an emergency line that locals had been given for just such a scenario, but no one could be bothered to answer. She called 999 and police came out within ten minutes of her call. When they arrived, they said they’d first been notified nearly an hour ago, but hadn’t bothered doing anything. There were no routine security patrols around the base either. It’s basically the sloppiest security effort since Netanyahu gave standdown orders on October 7. Luckily for the police, those Middle-Eastern-looking boys were still hanging around 25 minutes later and were arrested under the Explosives Act. We are told the vans had been driving around the base for hours before they parked up. It’s like they were making their arrival as visible as possible and then they just waited around to be caught. Either it was deliberate or they were just as useless as base security. Somehow it gets even worse. The vans were parked just six metres from houses, and the company names and telephone numbers on them were fake. Yet it took police around five hours to give evacuation orders. Maybe they knew the vans weren’t a threat, or maybe they’re staggeringly incompetent. I guess it could be both. Prior to the incident, the base was on its highest alert, and one local said they’d been stopped at gunpoint by Americans. If you didn’t know, this is an American base on our soil, or a “fort” as Trump called it. The US president was giving interviews about the incident shortly after it happened. He said “it worked out great”, which is an odd choice of words, don’t you think? Trump said the US had been investigating the suspects for a long time. Not sure if he meant “investigating” or actually meant “working with”. All I know is the British are insisting the arrests weren’t intelligence-led and that a farmer basically saved the country. We are now being told by the war-hungry media it was Iran, Iran, Iran… or maybe Russia, according to one news reader who mumbled something about this is why we need tactical nukes. Yelp. Now I’m still not clear what these “Iranians” were hoping to achieve. Park vans packed with explosives near a base and blow the whole thing up? Unless they had a nuke, best they’d achieve is damage to a few nearby houses and trees. If the Iranians wanted to pull this off, they would not hire a bunch of kids to drive in circles for hours around a base that’s on its highest alert and then hide in the woods until they were caught. They would quickly launch drones and disappear. It seems more likely this was a performance rather than a serious attack. Shortly after it happened, we had a news crew flying above Fairford in a helicopter, showing the location of B1 Stealth Bombers and other sensitive things. If there was a real threat, that’s the last thing they would allow. Now you have to ask yourself which parties would benefit from this. Israel needs us to join its war, the US needs to keep using Fairford to bomb Iran, and the UK needs to justify its involvement. Even though we attacked Iran first, they will probably spin it into something like this: “Iran is attacking the UK, even though we are a neutral party. Therefore we have no choice but to get involved”. This would be a terrible legal and moral argument, but it just needs to convince stupid people. We have to make sure stupid people are not taken in by this crap.

When I visited the graves of the martyred Minab School children, I sat next to Makan's empty grave. It was heartbreaking knowing that his mother would never get to say goodbye or bury her son. She asked me to never let the world forget that Donald Trump killed their only child.
Makan Nasiri — Iran’s Forever-Missing Flower Makan Nasiri was martyred in the US-Israeli attack on the school in Minab. His body was never found; only his shoes were recovered, leaving his family without the chance to bury him. Later, his mother shared a video on Instagram.

Extraordinary this from Brian Kerr: - Spoken with Gavin Bazunu who’s feeling quite low and shunned by players/FAI - Suggested to him it’d be better he left the squad for remainder of this window - Wasn’t told about meeting this morning - Wasn’t there for vote this morning (his vote was assumed by other players) 🎥 @VMSportIE

Despite all the attacks we have suffered at the hands of the Saudi warplanes, including the bombing of infrastructure, targeting of civilians, and the killing of women and children, we have not and will not target residential areas, nor have we harmed or injured a single Saudi citizen. Why? Because we are Muslims and our Islamic morals forbid us from targeting civilians. Our principles, ethics, and culture also forbid us from targeting civilians. As for the Al Saud family, they are Zionists and do not belong to Islam.

The photograph of Tommie Smith and John Carlos, Fists up, heads down, No shoes, The anthem playing and them not singing, Is one of the most reproduced images of the twentieth century, and it deserves every reproduction, But there's a third man in the frame, a white Australian sprinter, Peter Norman, Who wore a badge, and what he did, and what was done to him, is the part of the story that sits heaviest on me, because it's the part about what solidarity costs when nobody required it of you, when you're not the one being lynched, when your people aren't the ones being killed, when your country's history doesn't put you on that side of any line. (Norman ran 20.06 seconds in the 200 meters on October 16, 1968, and it's still the Australian record fifty-five years later, which tells you something about how fast he was, and something else about how a country treats a man who embarrasses it, who stands up for something that isn't his to stand up for, who wears a badge that says "I'm with them," even when "they" are Black men in America in 1968, the year Martin Luther King was shot in Memphis and Robert Kennedy was shot in Los Angeles and the whole country seemed to be deciding whether democracy was something it actually believed in or just something it said at parties.) Smith and Carlos had reasons that were written on their skin, reasons that made their protest not just a gesture but a necessity, a matter of life and death, and Norman stood with them, not because he had to, not because his people were the ones being murdered, but because he looked at two men he'd just raced against and decided that their dignity mattered more than his comfort. The Olympic Project for Human Rights had wanted a boycott, had demanded that apartheid South Africa and Rhodesia be banned, that Muhammad Ali's title be restored, that Avery Brundage be removed, a man who'd once told American athletes that the Olympics were about sport, not politics, as if sport were ever about sport, as if anything were ever just about the thing it claimed to be about, and the boycott didn't happen, so Smith and Carlos protested where the cameras were, and Norman stood with them, because he saw them standing, an d he couldn't look away, he couldn't just walk off the podium and leave them to face the consequences alone, and that's the kind of solidarity that systems fear most, not the kind that comes from shared suffering, but the kind that comes from a person who has nothing to gain and everything to lose and shows up anyway. The IOC knew about the massacre in Tlatelolco Plaza, ten days before the Games opened, and the Games went on, because that's what spectacles do, they absorb the blood around them and call it pageantry, and the men who run them sleep fine, and the men who interrupt them get sent home, and Brundage, the same man the OPHR wanted removed, demanded the US Olympic Committee suspend Smith and Carlos, threatened to ban the entire American track team if they didn't comply, and Norman stood with them, wore the badge, suggested splitting the gloves, and that's the part of the story that sits heaviest on me, because it's the part about what it means to stand with someone who's being erased or diminished or blamed for their own suffering, and what it costs to do that, what it costs to be the decent one, the one who shows up even when you don't have to. The Australian Parliament apologized to Norman in 2012, six years after he was dead, which is to say they apologized to their own consciences, and the AOC gave him an Order of Merit in 2018, twelve years after he was dead, which is the kind of timing that makes you want to throw something breakable at a wall, and a statue went up in Melbourne in 2019, but he never saw any of it, and that's the thing about solidarity, it's not about the reward, it's not about the recognition, it's about the act itself, the act of standing with someone, of wearing the badge, of suggesting that maybe we should split the gloves, and the empty spot on the pedestal at San José State, the one that Norman asked for, is an invitation, it's a dare, it says the spot is open, it says the need hasn't gone away, it says there's room for you, and the question is whether you'll stand in it, whether you'll wear the badge, whether you'll suggest splitting the gloves, and what you'll lose for it, what you'll gain for it, and what it will cost you to be the decent one, the one who shows up even when you don't have to. thesixthlense.com/article/th…
