Before โ€œJessieโ€™s Girl,โ€ before the fame, Rick Springfield was the guitarist in an obscure Australian band called Zoot. So was Beeb Birtles, whoโ€™d go on to co-found Little River Band. In 1970, they turned the Beatlesโ€™ gentle โ€œEleanor Rigbyโ€ into a heavy rock assault. Two future stars, one wild cover.

+522% IN TWO YEARS. VERIFIED. ONE SETUP. And Clement Ang's @Clement_Ang17 MAIN trading setup is so simple that most traders would probably overlook it. No secret indicators. No complicated strategy. Just Oliver Kell's Price Cycle and one particular stage: THE EMA CROSSBACK. One of my absolute favorite entries as well. If a new trader asked me where to start, I'd show them these 8 minutes before recommending another trading course. This might be the most valuable 8-minute trading lesson you'll watch this year. ๐Ÿ’ตPotentially worth MILLIONS over a trading career. ๐Ÿ“•Watch it. Study it. Bookmark it. Huge thanks to @WordsofRizdom and @chartfanatics. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Some pictures are worth 1,000 words. Never forget the environments that actually made you the big money. It wasn't some super genius intellect. It was the market. The difference between a consistently successful swing trader and a boom and bust trader is knowing when to take your foot off the gas pedal. If there's one lesson every trader should have learned from @markminervini, it's the concept of progressive exposure. It's not flashy. It's not exciting. But it's designed to protect you when the market is no longer rewarding what you know how to do. You don't need to force trades in an environment that isn't conducive to your strategy. You need to recognize when your edge has diminished and adjust your exposure accordingly. Because when the regime eventually shifts again, you'll still have your capital intact, your confidence preserved, and the ability to progressively increase exposure as conditions improve. The goal isn't to make the most money in every market environment. It's to keep the money you made in the best ones so you're ready to capitalize when the next opportunity comes.

This article might seem alarmist, but I actually liked how they broke it down in a more nuanced manner than the typical "bonds are all blowing up" narrative you see here. Specifically, they are very clear about the different risks across different countries and mostly downplay the risks in the USA while countries like France and Italy are far more alarming. I agree with this framing. Some of you might remember from the 2012 Eurozone debt crisis that Europe's sovereign debt market structure is analogous to the USA's state system. States can go bankrupt in the USA if the federal govt allows it and Europe's sovereigns don't have their own central bank to fall back on (the ECB is functionally a foreign political entity). So political will to allow massive spending in countries like France and Italy is a constant risk. TLDR: Debt risks in the USA are exaggerated. Debt risks in places like France and Italy are very real.

My job is 99% planning, 1% trading. Before I start day I know: 1) What zones I want to engage 2) What setup at those zones 3) How I'll manage the trades. The actual day is just waiting on triggers/executing. It takes 15 mins per day, is emotionless. Repeat daily to stack points

The Arcane Texas Fact of the Day: Today marks the 191st anniversary of the famous "Come and Take It" battle. Everybody knows the broad outlines, of course, but briefly: The battle was fought over a cannon. The small cannon was on loan from Mexican officials, and Lt. Francisco de Castaneda and 100 dragoons came from San Antonio to retrieve it. Because of tensions between Texians and the Centralist government, Castaneda was ordered to to avoid conflict. But when he crossed the Guadalupe River near Gonzales to retrieve the cannon, the Texians challenged Castaneda to "Come and Take It," and a brief skirmish took place. The Mexicans returned to San Antonio empty handed. The cannon's subsequent fate is unknown. Okay, so that's the overview, but ol' Traces loves the arcane, obscure facts, like this: during a pause in the fighting, a parley was held between Castaneda and John Henry Moore, the Texian commander. Castaneda told Moore that he personally opposed Santa Anna's Centralist policies and considered himself a Federalist. Moore replied that the Texans were fighting not merely for the cannon but in defense of the Mexican Constitution of 1824. In other words, at the opening battle of the Texas Revolution, the commanders on opposite sides were in total agreement about the politics that had produced the confrontation. Castaneda simply had orders to retrieve the gun. Watercolor painting below by Bruce Marshall.

What happens to equities if yields continue to rise? The simple answer is that per the DCF model the present value of future cashflows will decline, all else being equal. Fortunately, all else is not equal and earnings are booming. That means that the stock market can withstand a P/E derating without causing a bear market. Remember that in 2022 the P/E ratio fell 33% while earnings only grew 8% (and were decelerating from the post-COVID recovery). The result was a 28% bear market entirely driven by contracting multiples. I fear that a milder repeat could lie ahead if this bond bear market continues. Again, as long as earnings keep growing at double digits, the damage to price could be modest. For instance, per the Fed model below (which compares equity valuation to bond valuation), if the 10-year yield rises to 6%, that suggests an equity P/E ratio of 16x. It is currently 19-20x. A 4-point drop in the P/E ratio is a 20% valuation haircut, but if itโ€™s offset by 30% earnings growth, we could be spared the kind of drawdown we experienced in 2022. Maybe a 2022 echo or aftershock. ๐Ÿงต(1/2)
