#ManCity playing four centre-backs every week was always going to catch up with us. This was inevitable.
Banner at the Stretford End today: “We don’t want a new stadium, we want new owners.”
Meanwhile the Premier League keeps trying to force out the Manchester City owners when City fans haven’t complained. United fans are begging for change because their club is a mess. Why are United owners not being forced to sell?
Priorities completely misplaced.

🚨🚨🎙Matheus Cunha “We are on the pitch, we need to manage this. If everything outside the pitch affects our game, that isn’t correct. We need to change our mentality and focus.
I don’t feel the fans are against us. They want to see the team perform well. We just need to stop conceding goals.”

Watching Sunderland vs Chelsea has made me come to a few conclusions:
• Chelsea only rivals Manchester City when it comes to error prone defenders in Colwill and Fofana, they absolutely got spunned by Brobbery.
• Their fullback pairing of Chavarria and Palestra is disastrous, abysmal in attack and defence
• Jordan Henderson looks completely washed. He is supposed to lead by example but he is getting exposed in midfield every single week.
• Cole Palmer is not who Chelsea fans say he is, he can't influence the game as he used to and looks more out of form every week.
• Pedro Neto looked completely lost on the pitch, Alonso sabotaged him by playing him in the striker position.
• Morgan Rogers against a low block is honestly just a traffic cone in attack, a cardio esq performance from him today.
. Romeo Lavia had a bad game in midfield, constantly getting blown by, couldn't hold onto possession and failed to make any line breaking pass.
• Estevao had no impact off the bench, he was completely invisible and offered no threat on the wings.
• Moises Caicedo is an absolute gem. He was the only one who showed out today for Chelsea, cutting out so many passes and preventing the scoreline from looking worse.
Xabi Alonso thought his Chelsea side were back after beating a dysfunctional United side forgetting that he lost to Tottenham at home, he has to go back to the drawing board and fix up if he wants his team to qualify for the champions league next season.
So Maresca wants Anderson to play both as a 6 and an 8 so that Enzo Fernandez can be chilling in the right-half space.
Dumb tactics.
Noises coming from the #ManCity dressing room suggest Elliot Anderson is effectively being asked to operate as both a No6 and No8 when picked as the deepest midfielder, to join play high up the pitch.
That also relies on somebody covering. That somebody does not exist in this current setup, Enzo Fernandez always too high and wide elsewhere. When they lose duels as happened at the City Ground, @ManCity are not stable enough to recover.
Club analysts have sat with Anderson to go over video clips on how best to follow these instructions to the benefit of the team.

Manchester City’s recruitment post treble season has been deeply disappointing. The problem is not limited to the players we have signed, but also extends to the manager chosen to succeed one of the greatest of all time.
In Pep’s final season he had clearly identified a path forward similar to PSG’s, built around full-backs who bomb up and down the pitch. That idea was behind the signing of Aït-Nouri and the regular use of Nunes at right-back.
The club must take responsibility for appointing a manager who has shown no desire to continue the tactical direction Pep was developing.
In yesterday’s game Maresca left both Nunes and O’Reilly on the bench while Aït-Nouri failed to make the squad, preferring instead to invert with centre-backs.
The problem isn’t just Enzo Fernández’s lack of work off-the-ball. Haaland, Cherki, Enzo and Doku are all liabilities out-of-possession. Playing them together produces chaos.
The goalkeeper’s poor distribution only makes the situation worse.

🚨🚨🎙Alex Crook on Manchester United’s environment:
“Jeremy Jacquet has gone into a Liverpool side where he can learn alongside experienced players like Virgil van Dijk.
Yoro hasn’t had that at United, and the environment simply isn’t there for young players to shine.
In the right setup, with better players and better people around him, Rasmus Højlund might well have turned out to be a much better signing.”
Enzo Maresca is already asking for more time after just three or four months, saying he still needs to understand the players and they need to understand him. That is effectively an admission that he cannot quickly assess clear tactical mismatches.
You do not need months to see that Cherki and Enzo Fernández lack the right balance together, that Gvardiol in the left half-space is a liability, or that Khusanov at right-back has not worked.
He might be one of the quickest Manchester City managers to get sacked.

Funny how Manchester City’s early-season wins were written off as irrelevant because of the 114 verdict, until they started losing.
Suddenly the results count again.
