Remember the old days?
When politicians caught with their trousers down or hands in the cookie jar would just go. When leaders whose country lost at footie would commiserate but congratulate the other team?
Before honesty and decency became just sound bites?
Last August I was queueing at Trent Bridge for a cricket match when I collapsed with a near fatal heart attack. I was saved by Hayley (inset). Now I'm raising money for the BHF by walking from Birmingham to London this August

Tolerance is not weakness. Intolerance is not strength. Racism is not patriotism. Misogyny is not manliness. Before you are anything, you have to be a decent human being. If your politics or world view is incompatible with that, you are on the wrong track
To all my churchgoing friends, I’d like to mark the beginning of Lent as today is Ash Wednesday.
To all the catastrophisers who were banging on about the lack of public figures marking Shrove Tuesday, that, like Christmas Eve, it is not actually in the religious calendar
Let us salute the ‘civilian soldier’. Whether he is the man who willingly learns to become a soldier in his spare time, or the man who dedicates the skill of his peace time trade in the Army in time of need, he merits our admiration and gratitude;

Benefit fraudsters to make multiple claims
Terrorists to operate
People hiding assets
Tax avoidance

What percentage of people commenting on digital ID do you think actually know anything about digital ID?
Do give you a hint, I think it starts at 0,0XX % something
Integrity, decency, honesty, transparency, tolerance and respectfulness. These are not things we should aspire to in public life.
They are the basic minimum standards.
Miffy,
You could not be more wrong. Remembrance encompasses all nationalities, creeds and ethnicities who served. It is about gratitude for service and sacrifice, inclusiveness rather than division or rage. Wear your Poppy with pride.
