I can't make everybody happy. I need to work hard to make the people that are most inportant to me happy.

12/21 🤔’s from the Island 🏝️ ✝️ "God, help me think before I speak so that my words are true, honest, clear, and honoring to You. Use my mouth as an instrument to instruct, encourage, and communicate things that are worthy and true. In Jesus’ name, Amen." ✝️ The apostle Paul summed it up well: “You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich” ~ 2 Corinthians 8:9 NLT 🙏 Rock bottom is good solid ground, and a dead end street is just a place to turn around. Buddy Buie - Songwriter ✝️ “Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. God sacrificed Jesus on the altar of the world to clear that world of sin.” Romans 3:24-25 (MSG) ✝️ As you prepare for Christmas, remember that God will take us where we didn’t plan to go in order to produce in us what we couldn’t achieve on our own . He will give us the grace to hang in there and use the messy disappointment of relationships to change and grow us and others. ~ Paul David Tripp Make a difference today Love Clint 🙏⬆️✝️🌅

It's hard to be good for one day. Stack your days. Then stack your weeks. Then stack your months. Because guys that get into the Hall of Fame have been good for a really long time.

This is a passage from my book, Hurdle-isms -- Hurdle-ism 10: Build Your Mount Rushmore In 2011, when I was the manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates, we started the season strong but ended poorly, the team's 18th consecutive losing season. And the next year? We had the longest seasonal losing streak in North American sports history … ouch. With such a tough position to be in, I needed to have a system of checks and balances in place for my focus and vision to be undistracted and maintain a healthy rhythm. As a lifelong learner, I would need help. My wife, Karla, is my first sounding board, and I also have a posse of people in my life whom I lean into when I'm stuck or looking for answers. I've learned the hard way that asking for help is a superpower and that I'll never have all the right answers. I need to surround myself at home and at the ballpark with people I trust, and I know they will speak truth to me. I don't need bobbleheads to ask for advice or to ask what I'm missing. It was my friend Rod Olson who encouraged me to come up with a Mount Rushmore group of people to connect with – a group I knew I could trust. I knew they cared about me, and I knew they could make me better. We also knew we could call on each other at any time with no judgment and share what was on our mind or what challenges we were walking through. My friend Mike Matheny, former ML Manager of the Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals, also spoke wisdom to me along the same lines. Mike called it having a board of directors for your life. Both men stated the importance of having people who weren't like me as part of my team – people who are in different lines of work but with similar responsibilities and roles so there was an understanding of the chain of command. One of me is more than enough, and I learn more from people with different back stories than mine.

Leadership Isn't About Titles. It's About People. Players don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. Leadership lessons from 50 years in the game: • Don't be the "Oh No" coach • Find the fun in what you do • Preserve the human heartbeat in your team • Feedback is a gift, ask for it! Leadership is simple: Make people better. Not just at their job. But as humans.

I learned early in my career as a player and even more as a manager that your attitude dictates how you handle both success and adversity
