Best rivalry in the world.
It doesn't have to be chaotic and messy, obviously there's hatrwd but above all there's respect.
It's a shame how in the past this used to define silverware but with Milan's recent struggles it doesn't look the case now.
🚨🎙️🇮🇹 Paolo Maldini on why the Milan-Inter derby is DIFFERENT: “When Nesta arrived from Lazio, he asked me which restaurants he was allowed to go to in Milan.
I told him: ‘You can go wherever you want.’
He couldn’t believe it, because in Rome it was different.
There is maximum respect between Milan and Inter — not only between us, but between the two fanbases and across the city.
It’s a healthy rivalry.”
Kane won the Ballon d’Or.

Kane just won the Ballon d’Or. My favourite version is still Tottenham 2020/21: 14 assists, his most in ten seasons, 9 of them for Son.
Bayern 2025/26: 36 Bundesliga goals, 5 assists.
2020/21 Kane or 2025/26 Kane? @SpursOfficial @FCBayernEN
Data: StatsBomb
Bruno Fernandes: 100th percentile for pass value among 154 attacking mids and wingers. Pass difficulty: 55th.
Messi 2019/20 in La Liga: 98th for pass value, 26th for difficulty.
Hard pass or simple pass: which creates more value?

Who in German football plays like Florian Wirtz?
I compared his best two Bundesliga seasons with his Liverpool year, then went looking across the 3 German Leagues.
Some of it was expected. Some of it wasn’t.

Hopefully he gets something from the fans, those saves vs Yamal were amazing.
Was underrated and maybe stayed too long in Borussia Monchengladbach but I was so happy thst after this game he got his flowers.
Dortmund v Werder, after 4 games:
Points: BVB 12 (1st), Werder 7 (4th)
xG against: BVB 0.79 (2nd), Werder 1.44 (7th)
Set-piece xG for: BVB 0.47 (15th), Werder 0.62 (11th)
Early season, 4 matches
Which matters tonight, BVB’s defence or their set pieces? @BVB @werderbremen
Which leagues send players who actually last in Germany?
Settled means 900+ minutes in Germany.
Overall: 57% of 288 movers settle.
Denmark: 16 of 18 (mostly defenders)
Ligue 1: 9 of 22
Does the division they land in matter more than the league they leave?
Data: StatsBomb.
Bayern had the best xG difference in the Bundesliga in 2023/24 (+1.40 per game) and finished third. Leverkusen won the title unbeaten on +1.13, about 12 points above their xG line.
Five seasons, three German leagues.

What does a title, a top four and survival cost in German football?
I looked at 5 team-seasons across the Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga and 3. Liga (2021/22 to 2025/26), by xG difference per game.
A quick spoiler: In the Bundesliga, the gap is even bigger.
Full piece tomorrow.

how it feels to be extremely self aware but still repeat the same self destructive patterns
Lazio, Inter and Roma all have 13 points after five games.
The chances behind those points are worth 6.9, 10.4 and 11.2.
Whose 13 is the most real?
@OfficialSSLazio , @Inter or @OfficialASRoma ?

Bochum's corner defence in the 2. Bundesliga: 1st of 18 for xG conceded.
4 left-side inswingers to the central zone = 2.05 xG against.
Only 1 set-piece goal conceded so far, but the chances keep coming. 6 matches, early.
Signs of things to come? @VfLBochum1848eV
Hamburg after 4 Bundesliga games:
1 shot in the first 20 minutes (18 faced), and 13 goals conceded from 8.0 xG. Half their shots come from 20+ yards.
Slow starts or bad luck? @HSV
Data: StatsBomb.
Do set pieces actually win you league points, or is that just a coach's cliché?
5 leagues, a full season, and one clear answer.

Leeds are my team this season, and I expect them to reach Europe.
What I love: they're genuinely multi-dimensional in attack. Of their 63 shots so far, open play (24), fast breaks (20) and set pieces (19) are all real sources, not a one-trick team. 24 shots, 3.74 xG from open play alone.
Defensively is where they need to improve. 73 shots faced, spread just as evenly across open play (34), set pieces (26) and fast breaks (12), the low goals conceded (3, from 5.68 xG) is better than the underlying exposure. Good players, good offensive identity, the defensive side needs to catch up.
Where will Leeds finish this season? @LUFC
Norway's two ways to hurt Portugal:
Haaland: 20 shots, 5 goals from 4.37 xG in 5 games (a pure No.9, not tracked by the midfield metrics)
Odegaard: 2nd of 85 in Box Positioning (1.53 per 90), 12 key passes, still no assist
Who tips it for Norway?
