Across BC, schools and districts are developing out-of-classroom education plans for students. In the meantime, parents can use Open School to find free, everyday educational activities to support their children's home learning. openschool.bc.ca/keeplearnin… #COVIDBC #BCED

While in-person classes are suspended #BCED remains open to continue to support students and families in a variety of ways. Please note parents should not bring their children to school on Monday, March 30, 2020. news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2020…

Some signage already up for the @HamberSec #BuildHamberRight Rally today at 3:30pm!
🌟Advocacy for #bced never sleeps.🌟
Big question: Will @Rob_Fleming fix the flawed plan to build the smallest high school per student in all of Canada? 🤔

Want the @HamberSec PDR? Go #FOI and wait 2 months or just direct message me your email and I will send it to you pronto!
Reality is that ALL school PDRs should be public. See my comments on the secret #MOU committee 👇Let's get secrecy out of @VSB39! 👇

It is an affront to our democracy to not have our Elected Trustees involved in hundreds of millions of dollars of decisions! It is primary job of our Elected Trustees to enhance the public trust. Please change this @janetrfraser and get rid of #MOU and involve public in consult.
ALT Secret #MOU Steering Committee decides if a school should be upgraded or new and the trustees are not involved nor is the public.

Bonus: The lack of transparency at the @VSB39 is exemplified by getting a heavily redacted PDR where the entire Exec Summary is blacked out! Only feeds #conspiracy! Mandate of trustees is to "preserve and enhance the public trust in public education." @janetrfraser please fix!
ALT Hamber PDR is so heavily redacted that the exec summary does not exist and all costs are removed.

Take a look at my comparison between the plan as outlined in the @HamberSec PDR and to what is currently planned. Being #glassfull type, I think that we'll get at least the PDR plan. @VSB39. @bcedplan, @CityofVancouver have to account for what happened to change from the PDR plan
ALT Vik Khanna analyzes the Hamber PDR plan vs Current Plan. PDR includes space for Auditorium, Commons, Music, Bigger Library, Bigger Gym, Community Spaces, Storage Spaces and More.

So what happened to the NLC space that @HamberSec was going to have? The PDR mentions #Childcare but allocates no space towards it and implies that it would be on the roof, meaning it would not take away space from #education. So big mystery as to why the NLC space is gone 🤔
ALT Hamber PDR mentions childcare but does not mention any allocation of space to it other than it occupying the roof.

A high school is a central hub for the community and the @HamberSec PDR allocated a nice amount of space for the #wellbeing of our kids and space for the community. #CommunityLINK @BCEdAccess #inclusion #EmilyCarr, #Cavell, #SimonFraser, #GeneralWolfe, #Jamieson, #Osler #bced
ALT Hamber PDR had allocated space for the #wellbeing of kids at Hamber and Hamber family of elementary schools

Quote: "The gym space absolutely must be increased. There already isn't enough for all the blocks to use the gym, and our kids are often forced outside in cold, very rainy weather as there are no other option" so even with a bit extra NLC space, Gym @HamberSec is still too small
ALT NLC had allocated a bit more space for the Gym. And storage space.
Hamber PAC retweeted
More Library space was allocated to @HamberSec in the PDR! Still not a big enough library in my opinion as it would be about 50% smaller than the current library at Hamber. 📚 Best to ask the experts! Can any #librarians @bctla comment?

Wow! @HamberSec PDR has lists so many awesome reasons why more space was allocated as part of NLC for Music! @barbershopnews @chorleoni Just awesome to see kids and community come together and spaces for this are essential! 🎼🎹🥁🎷🎺🎸

ALT Music Space at Hamber is essential for Kid and for the Community and brings them together!

Would have awesome if @VSB39 would have disclosed to the public that a 800sqm 700 seat Auditorium was part of the plan using NLC space! Now, that we know, it's just a matter of constant advocacy and it will happen!
