Trump won’t rule out putting soldiers at your polling place. But Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan moved to make sure he can never do it. Her bill is called the Protect Our Polls Act. It exists because Trump keeps telling us, out loud, what he intends to do. He's already been asked directly whether he’d send troops to the polls for the midterms, he wouldn’t rule it out. “I’d do anything necessary,” he said. He’s already sent agents to seize ballots and voter records in Arizona, Georgia, and Michigan. Since the Civil War, no president has put armed troops between you and your ballot.
