We'll let Lottie have the final word this September! We LOVE to see adults, teens and children living well with alopecia. Not letting it hold them back.
A reminder that if you, or your child, are struggling with alopecia, get in touch. Let us see if we can help 💙

Alopecia Awareness Month 2024 may have come to an end but we will continue to do what we can to raise awareness of alopecia ALL YEAR ROUND!
Increased awareness hopefully leads to a decrease in societal stigma, and better understanding and empathy for all affected by hair loss 💙

A highlight (from 2 days full of highlights!) was the 'scientists with lived experience' panel, where there was time to reflect and respond to audience questions. Our chair, Prof John Geddes, commented on the 'uniquely powerful' combination of expertise and lived experience.

And boy were we ambitious! We had an incredible, international, cast of speakers, on Day 1, and we covered a lot of ground in pursuit of understanding why some people pick, pull and bite at their hair, skin and nails. It's a puzzle of many pieces, and we made progress.

This event was different from a regular scientific conference. The Oxford and @BFRB_UK_Ireland teams were ambitious about the scientific programme, while also ensuring that our long-neglected BFRB community were front and centre.

That's a wrap on our #OxBFRBConf. I'm so grateful to everyone who organised, ran, catered, filmed/covered, funded, sponsored, spoke and attended both our scientific day at @morethanadodo and our community day at the University of Oxford's @OxPsychiatry.

I'm in Oxford today with @louiselyons_ recording video conversations at the #OxBFRBconf meeting.
It's the start of something amazing, which will help people affected by Body Focused Repetitive Behaviours, and raise awareness of BFRBs, which are largely ignored & stigmatised
