Days like today I'm thankful for the framework the Christian faith provides about sin, Truth, redemption. It's a dark day and a reminder that we long for a perfect government, a perfect Kingdom, perfect unity in the place of division, Truth and clarity in the place of confusion.

I wonder 😂
Absolutely. It’s a shame the left tells women that they’re so pathetic that they can’t be expected to simply say a clear “no”. Also, while this doesn’t soften the point about ultimately having agency, I’ve often wondered if this is a direct consequence of our sexual culture. In the past, no was the default for non-husbands, and certainly for non-dates. It’s much easier to say no when no is the default assumption, rather than a personal rejection. Effectively, women are having to say “I don’t find you attractive” straight to a man’s face, which can be awkward. No one believes the no is due to modesty or virtue because that would be laughable. So it has to be personal.

Someone at the Colorado Republican Party should make a sign that says “it’s wisest to vote Republican.” (Or “…for an independent …against a progressive income tax …for women’s sports… etc). #cogop #copolitics #freeidea

One of the results that struck me from our @IWF poll of 750 women ages 50-69 was about church participation. Nearly 60% of respondents told us "no." Read more about this in The Matriarchs report: independentwomen.com/thematr…

Have lost count of the times I’ve said this but if you don’t want the (Trump) government in charge of something, don’t put the (Obama) government in charge of something.
Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/NmmAzhf

After thirty years of atheism, belief in God came soon after I realized that the love I felt for my wife and children wasn’t sufficiently explained by evolutionary pressures, a burst of oxytocin in my brain, or any other naturalistic account. There was something supernatural about this love that simply didn’t fit within a materialistic worldview. That realization opened me to belief. But it isn’t why I believe in God. I believe in God because I became convinced by the arguments. I read William Lane Craig, C. S. Lewis, Aquinas, G. K. Chesterton, and others, and realized that the versions of their arguments I’d encountered through Dawkins and others were sad little straw men that never addressed the sophistication of what these thinkers actually argued. It was the most extraordinary experience of the scales falling from my eyes that I’ve ever had. I had made an idol of atheism and discovered it to be as false as the golden calf in the desert. So when I consider the atheist position now, and when I encounter atheists, I know where they’re coming from. I know how they feel and what they think. I know they can be good people even when they disagree with me. But I also know there are basically two things keeping them from seeing the light of God: a hardened heart or a lack of understanding. I don’t mean this patronizingly, and I don’t yet know how to help someone overcome either. In my own case, that opening came purely as a gift of God’s grace. The only thing I can say to those who don’t believe is that He is there if you seek Him. He is there in the love you have for your children. He is there in the kindness you feel toward strangers. He is there in your ability to make sense of the world. He is there in the logical consistency of mathematics. He is everywhere for those with eyes to see.

Many hot topics intersect in @IWF MATRIARCHS report. Yes, doubly delayed fertility means fewer grandparents, and fewer healthy grandparent years. Yes, divorce & STI rates among ppl 50+ are skyrocketing. Yes, parent-child estrangement is a growing problem. independentwomen.com/thematr…

Not to mention what people really don’t seem to get is that your duty to your parents and siblings and so on is also in part your duty to yourself. The duty is to develop resilience and discipline in managing your emotions and dealing with others. This is the same principle as not being mean to the opposite sex. It’s the same principle as not being rude to service people. It’s the same principle as not lashing out at or spreading rumors about random strangers on the internet you’ve decided you don’t like. It’s not about them, it’s about you.
Your duty to your parents does not depend on whether you find them to be “pleasant people.”

🚨🚨NEW REPORT🚨🚨 After doing "The Dating Decade" report for @IWF this spring, I got curious about how today's changing social scripts were affecting women in other stages of life. This new report - THE MATRIARCHS - is the result. Accompanied by original polling! Check it out.
What does the “good life” look like for women in their 50s & 60s? Today, women are living longer; careers are stretching into later decades; families & relationships are changing; and technology is reshaping how people work & connect. “The Matriarchs” explores the opportunities, challenges, & possibilities of what comes next. ⬇️ independentwomen.com/thematr…

I really hate that Americans feel that this is often the choice in front of us. Yet I try not to complain too much... because I'm not willing to run for public office.

What I find interesting about gifted and talented programs is that they often treat high intelligence like a problem and want to focus on the "social and emotional" needs of GT kids. I just want my kids to have challenging school work! @JohnStossel youtube.com/watch?v=IVJXiAUJ…

The Nikole Hannah-Jones school confessional story has weighed on me. If her mistake was overestimating parental influence, I think we should give her a break. (Of course, one big way parents influence education is through school choice, but it's not the only way.)

Ironically I just watched the "An Khe" episode of West Wing and it's all about..... a proposed subsidy for stay-at-home-moms. The Democrats in that (fictional) administration thought they were against it until they looked at it more closely, and then they were for it.

Listening to the Kappa arguments STILL trying to figure out whether the "woman" requirement means woman. Kappa's lawyer calls the long-standing definition of woman as female "not relevant." The English language is just, ya know, not relevant.

I do write articles like this (“I love my kids!”) sometimes, but the reason I don’t write more of them is primarily that I am too busy enjoying my kids and spending time with them to write more articles.
I keep seeing article after article like this. Very disturbing. This one here just popped into my inbox. Why don’t I see articles saying “I love my kids!” more often?
