Some genuinely hopeful news for wolves.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed SB 1135 — the California Wildlife Coexistence Act, putting a renewed statewide focus on preventing conflict between wildlife and people before animals have to die.
For California’s growing wolf population, this matters enormously.
The new law strengthens California’s approach to proactive, non-lethal methods of reducing conflict between wolves and livestock — helping ranchers protect their animals without automatically resorting to killing predators.
California has also secured $5 million for wolf-livestock conflict mitigation, giving the state greater ability to invest in coexistence and support livestock owners affected by wolves.
This is the kind of wildlife management I want to see more of.
Protect the livestock. Support the ranchers. Prevent conflict. Keep the wolves alive.
Wolves were once completely wiped out from California. Their natural return has been an extraordinary second chance.
Coexistence isn’t always easy. But killing does not have to be the answer.
Today California has taken another important step towards proving that wolves and people CAN share the same landscape.
And that gives me hope. 🐺❤️

Sleep peacefully, America. ICE caught Sister Leticia Ugboaja walking to Sunday Mass.
She had a valid work permit, attended EVERY required immigration appointment and complied with EVERY condition of her court-ordered protection.
A nun. A nurse. Following the rules. Walking to church.
Thank God they got to her before she could receive Communion.
It took intervention from members of Congress to help secure her release. Apparently, a work permit and doing everything immigration officials require aren’t quite as effective as knowing someone in Congress.
So much for “do it the right way" hey MAGA????
