We went 2-1 yesterday for +0.9u, and we’re back tonight with Florida State +3.5. I already liked FSU at +2.5, so getting +3.5 gives us an even better cushion in a game I expect to be tight. My projection has this matchup much closer to a pick’em, with Florida State having a legitimate opportunity to win outright. FSU also has the advantage of already having played a game, while SMU is making its season debut. The Seminoles showed an ability to establish the run in their opener, and that’s important because controlling the ground game and tempo keeps them from having to turn this into a quarterback shootout. SMU deserves respect, especially with Kevin Jennings at quarterback, but asking them to go on the road in their opener and win by four or more is a different proposition than simply asking them to win. The hook matters here. A 3-point SMU win still cashes our ticket.
