Mark's been doing club reviews for a long time, and it shows: no outlandish claims (either good or bad), clear numbers, and the most honest conclusion: there are a lot of good clubs, and you need to see 1) what works for you and 2) what you *like*.

A sneaky golf ball cheat for longer, straighter drives…
(Tiny set up hack, BIG results!) 🚀
Good solid round by Greg again; right in the thick of things. A reminder: Greg's locked in for the beginning of the Schwab Cup Playoffs, but needs to move up a couple of spots these next few weeks to get into the finale and secure his full card for next season:

The purpose of mathematics is to remind us that one ball can become two balls without anyone keeping score. See the Banach–Tarski paradox. Checkmate, philosophy.😎

Huh?
Why do college golfers struggle the most on their first hole?
Many college tournaments use shotgun starts. One player’s first hole might be hole 12, while another’s might be hole 3.
I looked at each golfer’s round in the order they played it and compared their score with what the field averaged on that hole.
Looking at round 1 across many hundreds of events, the first hole a player played was their worst. They improved over the next few holes, then level off around their sixth hole.
The shape of the data stays the same when you break it down by hole difficulty or player skill level.
What’s behind it?
▶️First-tee nerves?
▶️The 20+ minute gap from when they hit the last warm-up shot to when they start the round?
▶️Something else?
Thoughts?

This is definitely the worst rule in golf!
😀
We asked @LouStagner for the worst rule in golf for amateur players.
Preston was very happy with his response.
A simple oversight, I'm sure.
A look at where things stand with three tournaments until @StifelCC, the first round of the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs 👀

Give this one a listen! It was a fun chat.
Thank you for having me on fellas!
Had a blast speaking with @LouStagner on @WeekdayGolfPod.
We covered a lot, including why the mathematically optimal shot isn’t always the right one, depending on the golfer.
And maybe we’ll see one of our suggestions in Arccos…

Can they get to 50 under?
Current group chat discussion:
Can four Division 1 men’s golfers get to 50 under playing a four-man scramble over 72 holes at a U.S. Open.
Course is playing "tough" and the winning individual score from a tour pro is around 5-under for 72 holes.
Assume all four are ranked inside the top 300 in college golf (around +5 tournament handicap index).
