A sneak peek at the #HeritageClassic venue... 👀
Watch the 2026 @TimHortons NHL #HeritageClassic this Sunday at 7 PM ET on @Sportsnet, @TVASports, & @NHL_On_TNT!

ALT A wide stadium rendering at dusk shows a packed outdoor hockey venue beneath a large arched steel roof. At center, an ice rink sits on a rustic wooden platform designed to resemble a cabin floor, surrounded by framed hockey artwork, oversized Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets logos, hockey sticks and skates. A large NHL shield with flames appears beyond center ice, while a glowing stone fireplace dominates the foreground. Red “Heritage Classic 2026” branding wraps around the rink and seating areas, with colorful illuminated stage areas positioned near the fireplace.
Tired: Quinton Byfield
Wired: Alex Laferriere
If there is one young player from the Los Angeles Kings that I would want Montreal to trade for, it’s Alex Laferriere.
The 25-year-old is a responsible, high-motor player with a heavy shot volume and led the Kings in hits by a wide margin. His physical edge and relentless puck-hunting would make him a great fit alongside Hage and Demidov.
In a world where the winless Kings decide to go full teardown, that’s the piece I want.
Laferriere will have one year remaining on his $4.1M contract after this season and will remain an RFA when it expires.
I know it’s just a report from Pagnotta, but I think it would be stupid to trade Newhook.
He’s a gamer and we saw that in the playoffs. You can deploy him in any situation.
I couldn’t agree more.
He made a mistake that led to Buffalo’s first goal, but I’m chalking that up to it being just his third career game, his first NHL game of the season, and his first at the Bell Centre. You could tell he panicked a bit and just wanted to get the puck back into the neutral zone, but those nerves will settle with experience.
Outside of that, he was exactly as advertised - smooth, defensively sound, and excellent in transition.
Reinbacher is exactly what this team needs, and I really liked what I saw from him and Xhekaj as a pairing.
It’s disappointing that one of them will have to come out of the lineup when Matheson returns.
#Habs Martin St-Louis on David Reinbacher's performance
"He did great. The first goal, sometimes things like that could affect the rest, especially early on, the rest of the game. I didn't feel it did. I thought he just really tried to have good intention, play the game in front of him. Overall, I was pleased, especially after being on the ice for the first goal."

Michigan sweeps the series! 🧹
Taking down top-ranked Denver will catapult them into the number one spot in the rankings.
Michael Hage finished the weekend with a pair of assists, while Sam Harris tallied one goal and one assist.
Unreal tip by Zach “Chris Kreider” Bolduc.
Tough shift for Reinbacher leads to a goal.
It’s his third career game, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, but you just can’t make those kind of passes and then lose your guy.
No better way to learn than by making mistakes.
I just don’t understand why they would refuse to include Michael Hage in a deal for 27-year-old Robert Thomas, but would trade him for 30-year-old Dylan Larkin who doesn’t even want to play in our country.
Good decision. You have to play the goalie that, at the moment, gives you the best chance to win a Saturday night divisional matchup.
San Jose and Chicago are on the schedule next week, so you can let Dobeš handle one of those games.
