💥🛩️‼️ UPDATE: The Russian aircraft that crashed in Amur Oblast has now been identified as a Tu-95MS strategic missile carrier, with newly released photos confirming the aircraft type.
Russian reports now cite the failure of three engines during takeoff as the cause. Six crew members reportedly died, while one survivor was hospitalized.
The crash occurred near Ukrainka Air Base, one of Russia’s key strategic aviation bases, the bomber was operating from there.
The Tu-95MS is one of Russia’s principal strategic bombers, used extensively to launch Kh-101 and Kh-555 cruise missiles against Ukraine.
P.S. The initial Russian reports identifying the aircraft as a Tu-154 and suggesting an onboard fuel explosion were incorrect.
