ALT A patient flying home after treatment carries 3 questions: Did I understand my treatment? Did I feel safe? Did it improve my daily life? At our Yerevan panel, “Building a World-Class Medical Tourism Destination,” I shared why accreditation is where quality begins not where it ends. Patients don’t experience certificates. They experience care, safety, outcomes, follow-up and continuity after they return home. In #HealthTourism, trust must cross borders too. My thanks to H.E. Gevorg Papoyan, the Tourism Committee of Armenia and UN Tourism for the invitation to the Global Medical Tourism Conference and to our moderator and fellow panelists for a valuable discussion.

ALT Six agreements were signed, covering virtual care, health insurance financing, digital transformation, healthcare education, nursing, and primary healthcare. But one development stands out from a patient’s perspective: The launch of a 24/7 connection between Seha Virtual Hospital and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health, enabling cross-border medical consultations. In 2025, Seha Virtual Hospital delivered 16 million virtual appointments and consultations. Now, that digital healthcare capacity is reaching beyond Saudi Arabia’s borders. For a physician dealing with a complex case, this is more than a digital-health initiative. It means being able to ask the right specialist sooner. It means a patient and their family may receive expert advice without having to travel first. And this is where the future of #HealthTourism becomes particularly interesting.
