The drugs are excessively expensive and barely work, if at all. The experts are calling for virtue signalling, not effective action and should be ignored.

As one trust CEO said to me recently, the best way to reduce your maintenance backlog is to demolish a few buildings. Which is all well and good if an alternative way has been found to provide services - but a bit alarming if not
The ever rising NHS maintenance backlog figure is both shocking and useless. It shows how bad the estate is, but equally, no government is ever going to invest £bns in something as unsexy replacing boilers. We need a better measure that might link to meaningful action

Repair backlog for NHS buildings has now risen to £17bn... The rate of growth may have slowed down, but still a huge barrier to care provided by the NHS digital.nhs.uk/data-and-info…

The NHS is on course to hit the government's hospital waiting list pledge by 'the end of the parliamentary term'. The only problem is that it's the NEXT parliament, not this one (ie 2034, not 2029) hsj.co.uk/quality-and-perfor…

Compare this performance with the comments made by @wesstreeting as he quit as health sec in April and made his bid for PM. Worst piece of political mis-selling on the NHS since Bojo's '40 new hospitals' pledge
BREAKING: NHS waiting list rises, waiting times worsen, while no. of year-plus waiters rise for fifth month in a row, latest NHSE data shows * Total list up 7.33m to 7.37m * Long waiters over 52 weeks up - 111,379 to 113,339 * No. >65 weeks: up from 9,095 to 10,782 (+18.6%)

Imagine the waitng list!
🚨 NEW: Kemi Badenoch says the Tories would end the current sick note system If a worker wants a sick note for 4 weeks or more, GPs would have to refer them to an occupational therapist who would assess if and how much they can work

Extraordinary to see the intemperate responses to @HSJEditor @HSJnews HSJ editor's quite legitimate defence of the contribution NHS managers make.
Hi Alastair Can we stop the HSJ awards tomorrow and see how many followers you and @HSJnews would have? And can we have a breakdown of the income HSJ makes out of these awards please? Thank you @parthaskar @DrSteveTaylor @iDrSunny @medicalmodelbri @kcisc @DrNeenaJha @pash22

Humbled and honoured to be a judge at the HSJ Patient Safety Awards and attend their spectacular awards ceremony. An inspiring celebration of teams whose dedication and innovation make care safer. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners! @HSJEditor @HSJnews

Great to see 'Sure Start' back (sort of), but I think it's reasonable to conclude from the conference speech by @YvetteCooperMP that the enthusiasm to significantly recover hospital performance in the near(ish) term that marked the Streeting period is waning.

Across my Trust and partner organisations I see amazing managers; values driven, smart, hard working and ethical. They work alongside all colleagues at every level in the trust with amazing clinicians, patients, communities and families. All lead together.

Great speech an' all. But I think we can conclude the AB's government does not have the same (unrealistic) expectations for NHS recovery that Starmer's did. That's largely a good thing, but I do worry we are normalising some pretty terrible performance

If I were @AConstance23 I'd be demanding @zubirahmed issues an apology to his managerial colleaugues before being allowed to work again in the Scottish NHS

The question I would ask is 'are NHS commissioners purchasing care from care providers that threaten migrant staff in this way?' If they are, they should demand a change of behaviour
"There is modern slavery happening right now." Migrant care workers are told to stay silent, accept poor treatment and endure exploitation because they are tied to a single employer. It's a system that traps workers with abusive employers. We need a better way. #FairVisasNow

Wes Streeting really did pick the best moment to resign. Avoided having to deal with the inevitable rise in the elective waiting list, and make any of the difficult decisions about how to move 1000s of NHS staff into Dept of Health
