It’s an early start down here in Falmouth as the final preparations are made to ‘flood-up’ and leave dry dock. Lots of great work has gone in to refreshing the ship - ensuring that we’ll be back on operations throughout the next few years.

🤝Commanding Officer Handover🤝 Today, Cdr Rob Garner handed over command of HMS Middleton to Lt Cdr Glyn Duffell. We thank Cdr Garner for an excellent two years in command of the crew, which included operations around the UK and East of Suez. Fair winds and best of luck for the future, Rob! 🫡 The ship continues to conduct planned maintenance and re-certification, prior to returning to operations later this year.

Before arriving in Falmouth, the Ship operated for 8 days round British waters. We covered 1200nm, exercising our primary Mine Warfare role (with our divers) and our secondary roles (as an Offshore Patrol Vessel). This is the kind of versatility that warships provide. #Seapower

Men At Work! The Warfare Department have laid out our anchors and cables into the Dry Dock, ready for maintenance and painting. An essential part of any dry docking period. Hot work in the sunshine, BZ lads! #Seapower

Dry Dock! The Ship is now safely in the dry dock at Balaena Falmouth and work has commenced on our refit. Great to get the job done in the Cornish sunshine! Dockyards, dry docks and skilled workforces are all fundamental parts of delivering #Seapower.

Fly Navy! During our recent patrol in British waters, we exercised with a @825NAS Wildcat HMA2. The Wildcat used the Ship as a target for weapon firing drills, then carried out visual approaches to MIDD. Great to work with our Fleet Air Arm colleagues! #Seapower

The Ship has arrived in Falmouth. We’ve had an incredible 4 weeks operating in the seas around Great Britain. 24 days at sea, 2950nm steamed. Tons of experience gained and countless personal memories made. BZ to the Ship’s Company for their brilliant work. #Seapower
