Tonight, Conservative peers voted to regret the Government's plans to implement the ACAS Code of Practice on trade union activities which will only increase burdens on business, holding back the economy and killing jobs. The Conservatives will repeal Labour's job-killing legislation, backing British jobs and unlocking the growth we urgently need.

Today, Lord Blencathra questioned why the United Kingdom's industrial electricity prices remain the highest in the OECD. He outlined that despite the country making up less than 1% of global emissions, the Government is continuing its fanatical Net Zero policies at the expense of British jobs and growth. The Minister acknowledged that the Government is providing extra support to struggling businesses because of these high electricity costs.

In the Lords, Lord Moynihan questioned why it is acceptable for the Government to sanction oil fields in our overseas territories but ban them in the North Sea at the expense of thousands of jobs in Aberdeen.

V satisfying when Lord True rinses spineless Lib Dems for voting with Labour to help Andy Burnham evade all parliamentary scrutiny over his plans for government I wonder if this grubbiness may help explain why they've been awarded unexpectedly high numbers of peerages recently
Today, Conservative peers voted for Lord True's business of the House motion which would have enabled a debate on the new Prime Minister's policies and plan for government. Having changed the programme in the House of Commons to avoid the Prime Minister facing scrutiny this week, Labour and the Liberal Democrats joined forces to block Parliamentary scrutiny in the House of Lords, helping Andy Burnham shirk accountability. The Conservatives will always stand up for Parliament’s right to hold the Government to account.

WATCH: Today, Lord True argued for proper Parliamentary scrutiny of the Prime Minister's policies. Having changed the programme in the House of Commons to avoid Parliamentary scrutiny, the Government has once again blocked Parliamentary scrutiny in the House of Lords with the support of the Liberal Democrats. Only the Conservatives are standing up for Parliament's right to hold the Government to account.
