24,000 Glasgow council workers now face the biggest fire and rehire in British history. SNP and Green councillors kept that option on the table. They have now ended in the grotesque chaos of the council threatening to sack its own workforce just weeks before Labour’s UK-wide ban takes effect. You cannot play politics with people’s jobs and people’s services. This is brinkmanship over the workers who keep this city running. Rule out dismissal. Get back round the table with all three unions. news.stv.tv/west-central/gla…

Another depressing read on the state of Scotland’s colleges. Too little attention has been given to sector in the last 20 years and what is a key resource to support SG priorities is undervalued greatly. audit.scot/uploads/2026-09/n…

If people don’t get that global climate change is the primary issue that threatens us all right now, they never will.
The moment disaster struck. Video from Immigration office at Nepal border just before 11 am today shows the flash flood. PM Modi has spoken to his Nepal counterpart and extended humanitarian and relief assistance. So far 384 travellers, including 105 Indians reported missing

Follow the story of Farhana, a single mother of six who has relied on platform work for seven years.   Platform work offers the promise of flexibility, but it also comes with deep precarity. In the event of an accident, workers can face a sudden drop in income, or lose their income entirely.   Singapore’s Platform Workers Act, introduced in 2025, transformed Farhana’s reality by granting workplace injury protection, CPF contributions and formal representation.   Much can be learned from the tripartite process behind the reform, from how Singapore’s National Trades Union Congress (@NTUCSingapore) brought workers’ voices to the table, and from how the ILO’s Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) helped document this progress so unions around the world can learn from it. youtube.com/watch?v=Y-5gukRG… – at Singapore
