Croatia fought the Turks for 100 years at the peak of Ottoman power, while Serbs fought on the Turkish side. 100 years of warfare left much of the country devastated, but not entirely empty. The arrival of the Orthodox Vlachs/Serbs was meant to supplement what was left, and they and the remaining Croatians continued to hold much of the front line against the Turk and Islam, alongside the Venetian Empire, the Magyars, Romanians, and the plucky Monteniggaz, with the Austrians, Slovenes, Slovaks, and Poles on standby
