Hey Alistair, this was a Tory plan from circa 2019.
While Rupert opposed it when asked for comment by the BBC in 2024, he took no firm action until around May 2026, just as Reform were about to take over the council and the very advanced Tory plan.

Totally against the looney left protesters attacking @RestoreBritain . Unacceptable. I’m also completely against the word ‘Nazi’ being used.
But Alastair asking for language to be softened makes no sense. While their policies are strong and reasonable, Restore literally have an unwritten law of ‘don’t punch right’, which means they will never disavow right wing extremists.
You cannot request people to tone down language, while passively welcoming in toxic crackpots. If you deliberately leave the back door open, these nut jobs will infiltrate.
All Rupert has to do is come out and condemn them. Thats it. It’s not hard. It would take 5 mins. But he won’t because he is terrified of losing their support. He uses them to boost the party, then cries when he is called out for doing so.

I agree with what Rupert (Alistair) is saying here. The only issue is, he is being a massive hypocrite (once again).
You cannot “call on” anyone to ease off on any rhetoric when you, yourself, frequently attack others.
