ALT A strong cold front will move through from approximately 9pm-2am. Wind gusts will be around 40-50 mph near and just after front. A band of snow is expected to reduce visibility with the front. Rapidly falling temperatures into the teens will lead to slick conditions on untreated surfaces. Additional snow showers will move in overnight and on Thursday, especially near and north of I-70. With the cold temperatures there is concern for continued slick conditions. Single digit to sub zero wind chill values are expected by Thursday morning.

ALT These needle-like funnels develop off the bases of towering cumulus They tend to develop as towering cumulus clouds are in their most rapid stage of initial growth Sometimes (as in this case) they are seen by spotters/public even before rain is detected by the radar In the “Landspout” family of vortices, these very rarely touch down and often rotate very slowly – tornado warnings are rarely issued for these Usually brief, translucent, helical funnels Light winds and ample moisture beneath the cloud base are keys in making them visible
