A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breast. Doctors use a mammogram to look for early signs of breast cancer. Here are some tips you can use when getting a mammogram: 🧡 Try not to have your mammogram the week before your period or during your period. Your breasts may be tender or swollen then. 💜 Don’t wear deodorant, perfume or powder. These products could show up as white spots on the x-ray. 🧡 You may want to wear a top with a skirt or pants instead of a dress. You will need to undress from the waist up for the mammogram. #NationalMammographyDay

Fueling confidence, connection, and well-being. 🧡💜 “At HAP CareSource, we recognize that health is shaped by more than clinical care alone, which is why we invest in youth sports initiatives as part of our commitment to addressing the whole health of our members. HAP CareSource Impact Camps create opportunities for youth to stay active and engage with their peers, supporting their social and physical well-being.” - Sarah Musser, HAP CareSource market president, Michigan. We were proud to partner with Spencer Torkelson, first baseman for the @tigers, and the @umichbaseball, to provide local youth with an exciting baseball and mentorship event. More than 125 students in grades 1-8 came together for an engaging afternoon full of physical activity, skill development, and meaningful connection. ⚾ Our commitment to improving health goes beyond traditional medical care to address the social factors that truly impact lives. This Impact Camp is a perfect example of our mission in action - promoting access to activity, mentorship, and community involvement, all crucial for fostering stronger, healthier futures for youth in the communities we serve. #HAPCareSource

Did you know? 1 out of every 5 deaths in the United States are due to heart disease. The term "heart disease" refers to several types of heart conditions. The most common type of heart disease in the United States is coronary artery disease (CAD). CAD affects the blood flow to the heart. Decreased blood flow can cause a heart attack. Sometimes heart disease may be "silent" and not diagnosed until a person experiences signs or symptoms of a heart attack, heart failure or an arrhythmia. High blood pressure, high blood cholesterol and smoking are key risk factors. Know your risk for heart disease so you can prevent it. Learn more about risk factors for heart disease. Our team was proud to participate in the Strides for Sickle Cell 5K Run/Walk at Gallup Park! This inclusive event welcomes everyone to walk, run, push, or roll at their own pace - all while raising awareness and support for those affected by sickle cell disease. 👟 Sickle cell anemia remains under-recognized, impacting communities that often face barriers to adequate care. Events like this are vital for bringing people together, shining a light on the challenges faced by individuals and families, and advocating for increased research and improved clinical innovation. At HAP CareSource, we’re centered on improving health outcomes and uplifting the communities we serve. Being present in events like Strides for Sickle Cell allows us to connect, support, and stand alongside those who need it most - because true health care goes beyond medicine; it’s about compassion, advocacy, and community. 🧡💜 #HAPCareSource

If you are healthy, it is okay to do medium exercise when you are pregnant. Exercise can help you not gain too much weight. It can also help keep your heart and lungs strong. It can lower the chance of getting gestational diabetes. After having a baby, exercise can help with feeling sad or depressed. Try to do 150 minutes of exercise each week. That means 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Here are some activities you can try: 🚶‍♀️ Fast walking 🧘‍♀️ Some kinds of yoga 💦 Water exercise 🚲 Bike riding #NationalWomensHealthAndFitnessDay #WomensHealth #Pregnacy #Postpartum #MaternalAndInfantHealth

What causes sickle cell disease (SCD)? Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a condition you are born with. It happens when a child gets two genes that cause SCD, one from each parent. These genes make the blood cells shaped like a “C.” This can make it hard for blood to move around the body. #NationalSickleCellAwarenessMonth

This can cause big problems. Stress, bad experiences, mental health, and family can all lead to addiction. SUD can be mild or very serious. It can happen to anyone, no matter their race, gender, or money. SUD can happen from using: • Alcohol • Marijuana • Hallucinogens • Inhalants • Opioids (medicine or illegal drugs) • Medicines to help you relax or sleep • Stimulants (drugs that give energy) • Tobacco (nicotine) • Other drugs Learning about these dangers and getting help from friends and family can help stop SUD. Our HAP CareSource Market President, Sarah Musser, recently joined an inspiring panel at @IamSamaritas’ 2nd Annual Corporate Impact Breakfast. The event centered on “Strengthening Communities to Strengthen Business: Why Basic Needs Matter for Michigan’s Future.” Leaders from business and community sectors gathered to discuss how addressing essential needs such as stable housing, access to nutritious food, reliable transportation, and behavioral health support plays a crucial role in workforce stability and long-term economic growth throughout Michigan.
