Then they reported a profit. 😇
Sales volumes dropped meaning they’re selling less electricity and charging more for it and celebrating a “turnaround”.
This is government printing money through our prepaid electricity vouchers and municipal bills then collecting more VAT on the higher prices of electricity
In the meantime, Eskom board & staff get salary increases for producing less electricity and the bailouts keep flowing when the numbers don’t look sexy enough.
When the state owns the monopoly, the customer always pays twice : higher prices for less kilowatts and again in bailouts through our taxes.

[ICYMI] Following an 18-month investigation, Eskom concedes it made R3-billion in irregular payments to diesel suppliers.
AmaBhungane’s investigation alleged that Eskom made at least R3-billion in prepayments to little-known suppliers who were struggling to deliver enough diesel to Ankerlig when the country was faced with loadshedding in 2025.
While Eskom’s 7-page press release did not use the word “prepayments”, it did refer to “advanced payments” and what it calls “payments outside of the contractual terms”.

The Galeshewe Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit requests the assistance of the public in locating a person of interest depicted in the facial composition.
On Sunday, 27 September 2026, between 10:00 and 12:00, the 22-year-old victim was on her way to a tuckshop in Mokgoro Street when she was approached by a male who introduced himself as Mpho.
He reportedly requested the victim to accompany him to another tuckshop in Seochoring.
When they returned from the tuckshop, he allegedly raped the victim in a passage in Mokgoro Street.
He has a light brown complexion, a slender build, dark brown eyes and speaks Setswana. He is believed to be a teenager.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing a striped T-shirt and shorts.

GRANT RECIPIENTS BANNED FROM BETTING
Sun International plans to block social grant and NSFAS recipients from using its Sunbet online betting platform as part of a new responsible gambling charter.
Customers will be required to declare their source of income, and those who identify grants or student funding as their primary income will be excluded from betting.
The move comes amid growing concern about the rapid growth of online gambling in South Africa, with betting now accounting for the largest share of industry revenue.

Temba SAPS is requesting public assistance in locating 15-year-old Malokane Princess Makaba, who went missing on 12 October 2026.
The missing person left her home in Temba without informing her mother where she was going and has not been seen since.
She was wearing black trousers and a black blouse.
Anyone who may have information about her whereabouts is requested to contact Temba FCS Investigating Officer Sgt O. Malope on 012 717 9092.

MISSING 21-YEAR-OLD NGQABUTHO NCUBE FOUND DEAD
Ngqabutho Mduduzi Ncube, 21, who was reported missing from Kaalfontein, Rabie Ridge, Gauteng, has been found deceased.
He was last seen on 26 September 2026.
According to his family, he was shot dead on 27 September near a tavern after an occupant of a vehicle, believed to be a Toyota Avanza, opened fire.
The family only received information about the incident on 8 October after a witness recognised him from a missing-person poster.
His body was reportedly taken to hospital before being transferred to Germiston Mortuary, where his family located him.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting, the motive and whether any arrests have been made remain unconfirmed.
The family has thanked the public for assisting with the search. SAPS should be contacted by anyone with information about the shooting.
