Folks in rural zip codes are tired of having their homes and farms being treated as a dumping ground for whatever high tech boondoggle Silicon Valley and the federal government dreams up. Here in Eastern Washington our skylines have been blighted by almost two thousand wind turbines which are inefficient, polluting, and non-recyclable. They have been built over the objections of locals and our county governments are the subject of lawsuits by the state and federal government whenever they oppose their construction. These structures kill birds and wildlife. Our public lands are gated off when they're built on them. Worse, our utility rates have skyrocketed in order to subsidize these structures because they are unable to generate power at a profit. When billionaire Silicon Valley tech bros want to construct data centers on our farmlands and next to our communities, rural Americans are justified in viewing their intents with suspicion.
