Kinda curious what the reception would be to the inverse of this- if this shot appeared in the middle of a ""big budget"" scene in a popular anime, would audiences accept it as paying homage to genre influences or would they complain about weird CGI?
Sorta fascinated by the series of influences here. Scene from Being John Malkovich -> Dandadan panel where anime girl's surrounded by identical bald guys -> quoted artwork where everyone's an anime girl. If enough people riff on each other will the joke go full circle?
Horrific. I find this quote the most interesting: the results of these AI-ordered bombing campaigns are barely different from attacking random houses, but now the drone operators feel less bad about murdering civilians.

ALT "It was very surprising for me that we were asked to bomb a house to kill a ground soldier, whose importance in the fighting was so low," said one source about the use of AI to mark alleged low-ranking militants. "I nicknamed those targets 'garbage targets.' Still, I found them more ethical than the targets that we bombed just for 'deterrence' — highrises that are evacuated and toppled just to cause destruction."
Israel used an automated system called "Where's Daddy?" to ensure it killed AI-designated targets while the targets were at home with their spouses and children:

(In Nanami's case, it probably helps that his theme resembles the new soundtrack's jazz/rock influence more than the EDM/hip-hop of s1.)
