Last week a casting director came to me for help. They were casting Latino roles & verifying ethnicity by looking at the actors last name! 🤦♀️ So they ended up casting a bunch of Filipino actors & was very confused as to why they couldn't speak Spanish well. LOL
Please, if you're gonna call yourself a CD who casts "authentically" (nothing authentic about that process) maybe make sure you also understand high school geography & history. We have similar last names because Spanish Colonialism was a thing.
I happen to LOVE our cultures, but they are definitely two distinct cultures from a minimum of two distinct countries and a maximum of 20. 😂
